Introduction

Established in 2012, UGREEN has grown into one of the most recognizable brands of consumer electronic devices such as chargers, cables, power banks, and power strips. The company has also entered other markets as well, nowadays offering a broad portfolio of devices characterized by slick design, excellent build quality, and competitive pricing.

Today, we’re looking at two UGREEN chargers, namely Ugreen Uno 65 W and Uno 100 W, as well as the UGREEN 1 meter 100 W USB-C charging cable. Both chargers feature GaN technology, allowing fast charging in a compact body that doesn’t heat as much as silicon-based wall chargers. Note that while the two chargers are listed as Uno RG (the 100 W unit) and Nexode RG (the 65 W model) on the boxes, they’re listed as UGREEN Uno Charger 100 W and UGREEN Uno Charger 65 W on UGREEN’s online store, respectively, so I’ll be using the store branding in this piece. We’ll also look at a UGREEN 100 W USB-C charging cable that’s 1 meter long. Before we move on, I want to thank UGREEN for providing the review samples.

Packaging and Accessories

UGREEN Uno 65 W GaN Wall Charger

The UGREEN Uno 65 W GaN Wall Charger comes in a sturdy cardboard box that lists various features supported by the chargers, product specifications, a table listing the power output of each port, and contact information for the brand itself. The charger is available in three colors, purple, pink-blue, and black, with the boxes following the color flavor of the chargers. Inside you can find a user manual, a user instruction flyer, and some sort of call to action regarding recycling.

The charger itself is housed snugly inside the box. Once you remove the charging housing, you can locate the aforementioned user manual and other documents. Unfortunately, a charging cable is nowhere to be seen, meaning you will have to provide your own.

UGREEN Uno 100 W GaN Wall Charger

The 100 W unit is packed inside a more or less the same box that features the same very high build quality. The sides list the features, specs, and contact information for UGREEN.

The charger is housed inside the box very tightly. Once you remove its cardboard housing, you can find the same documentation found with the 65 W model.

The charging cable comes in a simple plastic zip bag with the model number label on the back alongside the brand’s contact information.

UGREEN Uno GaN Wall Chargers

Specs-wise, the two UNO GaN wall chargers support USB Power Delivery 4.0 and below, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, Huawei Super Charge Protocol, Programmable Power Supply charging protocol found in Samsung and Google phones, and more.

The 65 W unit features a GaNFast chip inside, which manages the charging process. The larger, 100 W unit features a GaNInfinity chip that allows for higher efficiency and faster heat dissipation compared to the GaNFast technology.

The 100 W model features eight levels of safety protection and always-on temperature protection that should prevent it from overheating when delivering 100 W of power. The smaller model features the same always-on thermal protection capable of 238 temperature readings per second, which should be enough to prevent any issues stemming from overheating.

Both the UGREEN Uno 65 W and the UGREEN Uno 100 W chargers are super dense units with substantial weight and slick design. While they feel quite weighty, they’re quite compact, as shown above in the image where my S21 FE stands next to the two chargers. The body is made of quality matte plastic with glossy plastic elements representing the robot’s headphones. That robot-like design is the main shtick of the Uno charger lineup.

The chargers feature LED displays capable of showing different emojis depending on their status. The 65 W unit has a simpler display that doesn’t support animations. All you’ve got are three different animations that change depending on whether the charger is idle/on standby, fast charging one or multiple devices, or is finished charging a device/is in trickle charging mode. I like the attention to detail with the purple version having a cute rubber hair bow on the back of its head since it’s a girl robot; well done UGREEN!

The larger 100 W unit has a nicer screen with actual pixels, not just large LEDs combined to show different emojis. The screen can show a number of animated emojis, and while they’re clearly a gimmick, they look super cool. The robot design is rounded up with cute plastic boots that cover the power prongs. The boots are magnetized; you can stick them to metal objects to avoid losing them, but the magnets aren’t strong enough to prevent the boots from sliding off if you stick them to an object with chargers in tow.

Moving on to performance, the 100 W unit has four USB ports: one USB-A and three USB-C. The two USB-C ports at the top support up to 100 W charging speed, the third type C port can charge your devices with up to 30 W of power, while the sole USB-A port tops out at 22.5 W. During testing, I managed to use the charger without issues with my Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch Lite, and my phone.

On the flip side, my ROG Ally couldn’t work at 30 W, only at 25 W, which was unfortunate. The charger only delivered about 35 W of power to the Ally, while my Zotac Zone review sample drew nearly 60 W from the same charger. This suggests that the issue isn’t with the power brick but with the Ally. The funny thing is that the ROG Ally is capable of guzzling up almost 100 W of power when hooked to an official ASUS 100 W charger, which delivers the same 20 V/5 A power profile as the UGREEN Uno 100 W. This begs the question, does the UGREEN Uno 100 W support the correct “handshake” needed to deliver 100 W of power to the Ally, of does ASUS limit third-party chargers to 65 W (20 V/3.25 A), a power profile that the UGREEN Uno 100 W unfortunately doesn’t support?

I can recommend the 100 W model to owners of Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and Samsung phones. UGREEN also boasts about great Apple device compatibility, so if you own an Apple device that needs 100 W of juice or less, the UGREEN Uno 100 W GaN Wall Charger ought to be a pretty good choice.

The 65 W model includes three ports in total: two USB-C and one USB-A. The primary USB-C port tops out at 65 W, the second type C port supports up to 30 W of charging power, while the USB-A port delivers up to 22.5 W.

The 65 W unit doesn’t have issues when charging the ROG Ally. Yes, Armoury Crate does show a warning about not using an official ASUS charger, but I’ve managed to use the 30 W power profile with the battery topping up steadily while playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the Ally drawing more than 60 W of power from the charger, so I can recommend the UGREEN Uno 65 W GaN Wall Charger to ROG Ally owners as well as to Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, and owners of Samsung phones.

Uno 100 W USB-C Charging Cable

Lastly, we’ve got the USB-C 100 charging cable. It’s one meter long, very thick and braided, and comes with a tiny display that lights up when the cable’s in use. I can’t say anything other than the cable works rather well and that it looks as good as it performs. I managed to charge all my devices without issues, even the ROG Ally, when hooked to the UGREEN Uno 65 W GaN Wall Charger.

You can buy the UGREEN Uno 100 W GaN Wall Charger from UGREEN’s US web store for $59.99 and from the EU web store for €69,99, which is a shame because the 65 W unit has an adjusted price for the EU that matches the US pricing. The 100 W charger is available on Amazon as well for $59.99. Lastly, the Uno USB-C 100 W Charging Cable is listed on UGREEN’s US store for $12.99 for the 3.3 ft and 6.6 ft versions, while the 10 ft version costs $15.99. The cable’s also available on Amazon, where it features the same pricing. The only difference is that the Amazon listing also includes a 1.6-foot version of the cable that sells for $8.99. The EU web store offers the 0.5-meter version of the cable for €10.99, the 1-meter cable for €12.99, the 2-meter version for €13.99, and the 3-meter version for €16.99. Ouch at those EU prices.
