The Chinese manufacturer has announced the arrival on the market of the new gimbal models of the Ronin series: DJI RS 2 and DJI RSC 2 . According to what has been stated, these are completely revised devices to meet the increasingly complex needs of modern users.

The main difference is that DJI RS 2 is designed for more complete and complex (and heavier) equipment such as DSLR, mirrorless with large lenses or video cameras. Instead DJI RSC 2 aims to be usable with lighter solutions (such as mirrorless or compact cameras) offering greater portability.

DJI RS 2: the technical characteristics

The new model focuses on strength and lightness thanks to the carbon fiber used for part of the structure. This resulted in a weight of 1, 29 kg supporting a dynamic load of 4.5 kg . The dimensions, when fully open, are equal to 410 x 260 x 195 mm.

Despite the weight reduction, the autonomy has not been limited by touching the 12 hours and there is also the fast recharge that with 15 charging minutes allows you to use the gimbal for two additional hours. The plate data speak of 1950 mAh of capacity a 13, 4V.

DJI RS 2 has seen an optimization of the Titan algorithm which allows to obtain stable and fluid images even without manual intervention by the operator. Also comes the SuperSmooth mode which allows you to optimize the use of cameras with lenses up to 100 mm. Checks are possible on axes a 360 ° (X axis), – 95 ° a + 240 ° (Y axis) and tilt from – 112 ° a + 214 °.

The structure provides for the blocking of the axles (for transport) or for balancing and the double mounting plate is compatible with Arca Swiss and Manfrotto plates. Then there are adjustment systems such as a selector for “fine” balances and a 1.4 “color touchscreen that shows camera data, stabilization parameters or streaming of the images taken. Bluetooth 5.0 connections are supported. and USB Type-C.

DJI RSC 2: the technical characteristics

As written at the beginning, DJI RSC 2 aims to be usable anywhere thanks to its portability. The weight is equal to 1.2 kg while able to withstand a dynamic load of 3 kg . As you can see, a little load capacity is lost compared to the older brother, but the rest needed to differentiate the two products.

We have chosen in this case to have a foldable design , useful for transport without excessive bulk. Again in terms of flexibility, it is easier to shoot video vertically (as always thinking of Instagram and Tik Tok).

The Sling mode that allows you to place the arm with particular angles allowing interesting and innovative shooting. The construction is then made of steel and aluminum, combining durability and lightness (without the cost of carbon fiber).

The autonomy of DJI RSC 2 is guaranteed by the battery from 3400 mAh at 7.2V with an approximate duration of 14 hours. Fast charging from is also supported W which arrives to completion in 2 hours.

According to the manufacturer this model can also be used with mirrorless such as Panasonic Lumix S1H with optics 24 – 70 mm which are not particularly light. Here too there is the Titan algorithm to allow to improve the mechanical stabilization as well as the blocking of the axes and the support to the different mounting plates. Present an OLED screen for simplified camera management.
