Rumor: But no GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 with double memory

After the existence of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 with 20 GB and the RTX 3070 16 GB by listing in the various partners, such as Gigabyte and Galax, were considered practically confirmed now new rumors emerge that a publication of these cards was completely canceled.

On the VideoCardz page, two independent sources are named who claim that the launch in December was canceled. A postponement to a later date is largely excluded. This would add the two models, which were actually expected by many users, to a list with the RTX 3070 Ti, which NVIDIA has already crushed.

Originally, the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 models were supposed to have double graphics memory in response to AMDs Radeon RX 6900 / 6800 series hit the market. All three AMD GPUs will be equipped with 16 GB of graphics memory and thus more than the top models NVIDIAs have.

Still is nothing is known about the official reasons NVIDIA made this decision. A possible reason could still be existing manufacturing problems of the GDDR6X graphics memory, on which the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 with 20 GB should rely . However, this does not provide an explanation for why the RTX 3070 with 16 GB of memory should also have been deleted. This is based on normal GDDR6 graphics memory and should therefore not be a problem in production. Maybe NVIDIA sees itself well positioned with the current product range and the whole thing was just a secondary candle to mislead AMD.
