MSI is currently particularly committed to players and developers and, in addition to its support for motherboards with X 570 – AM4 chipsets now also all older X 470 – and B 450 – Support mainboards with optimized BIOS versions.

In order to ensure smooth operation of the new Ryzen – 5000 – Processors based on Zen 3 with B 450 – or X 465 – chipsets, at least the firmware AMD AGESA was required COMBO AM4 V2 PI 1.0.8.0 or higher. It has been known for a long time that the above-mentioned chipsets from MSI meet this requirement that they will continue to be supported, MSI reported to us these days.

The more recent AMD AGESA COMBO PI V2 1.1.0.0 Patch D version for the above-mentioned mainboard chipsets can be expected from next week at the latest. The start is made in mid-December with the AMD 400 – series of the MAX -Mainboards with 32 MB BIOS ROMs, followed by the AMD – 400 -Non-MAX series with 16 MB BIOS-ROM whose update should be rolled out by the end of the year.

Meaning and purpose of the BIOS updates for the somewhat older motherboards should not only be primarily to increase the performance, but also to improve the compatibility and above all m to increase stability. Since there are supposedly too many technical problems with AMD AGESA 1.1.8.0 at the moment, the decision on the part of MSI should be AGESA 1.1.0.0 instead. Rolling out Patch D, the better choice to update its motherboards on a broader scale.

One of the most notable features that came with AMD AGESA COMBO PI V2 1.1.0.0 Patch D on the older motherboards comes, the Resizable BAR support should be. Put simply, this feature uses the memory of both the CPU and the GPU and effectively reduces latency and buffering, which should be clearly noticeable in the performance level. Furthermore, problems with overclocking should have been eliminated, the SMU module updated and the DDR4 RAM overclocking options optimized. Better compatibility with processors should also be ensured, CPUs of the AMD-Ryzen – 3000 – series, Ryzen- 4000 – G series and the Ryzen – 5000 – Series benefit from improved compatibility.
