As we can read in Bloomberg , it appears that Jay Y. Lee has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for charges of bribery , something that has even affected Samsung itself, who has seen a drop in his shares after the news appeared.
Jay Y. Lee has already seen several problems with justice, and it is that the Seoul High Court imprisoned him for first time in 2017, and although he had a 5-year sentence, he served only one year after seeing his sentence reduced.
However, in 2019 a new trial was ordered, which has ended with accusations of bribery to a friend of the former president to win support for his formal succession in the company, confirming a prison sentence of 20 for Park Geun-hye, former president of South Korea.
Finally, Jay Y. Lee has ended with a prison sentence of 30 months for these actions, which is why, as we mentioned Earlier, Samsung Electronics shares have fallen 3.4 percent , at the same time that Lee’s attorney has determined that the decision is regrettable, while that Samsung has refused to provide comments in this regard.
