With Ruum, Spotlight and RPA, SAP is expanding its core portfolio with three more products. They come from the New Ventures and Technologies (NVT) division. Small teams should act like start-ups in it and develop innovative products in this way – comparable to programs from other companies such as Microsoft’s Garage.

Ruum exists since 2016, with the tool business processes should be mapped in software without programming knowledge and thus be automated. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) also comes from the field of process automation, where bots are supposed to take over routine tasks that were previously performed by humans, such as copying data from Excel. This should go faster and at the same time avoid errors.

2018 Spotlight saw the light of day. Business processes should be checked for their efficiency with the software. The tool identifies whether a task requires significant manual effort. Companies should then automate these as part of their digitization. Spotlight is now the core element of the new SAP Business Process Intelligence (BPI) division.
