Introduction

The Seasonic FOCUS name has been on the market for quite a few years. Since the series introduction in 2017 we have seen both iterations and evolutions of the offer. From the Original FOCUS Gold to FOCUS PLUS Gold (both with 80 Plus Gold efficiency levels) to the FOCUS GM, FOCUS GX and the 80 Plus Platinum rated FOCUS PT, Seasonic has released 22 different FOCUS power supplies, ranging from 450 to 1000 watts. And that’s not counting the white-painted and SFX versions of the PSUs.

That’s why it comes at no surprise that Seasonic decided to upgrade the FOCUS again—the GX series in particular. On paper, the biggest update is a ‘must’ for any modern performance PSU—support for ATX 3.0. However, that’s far from the only change. The new GX differs from the old one in both external and internal construction as well.

To test the FOCUS GX ATX 3.0 refresh, we’ll be looking at 850 W version of the PSU. Without further ado, let’s check out its specifications and see how it compares to a couple of other fairly recent additions on our reviewed 850 W unit list.
