The Thunderbird email client is vulnerable. Under certain circumstances, attackers should be able to execute malicious code on computers after successful attacks.

An attacker would have to modify a COOKIE-ECHO chunk in an SCTP packet for this. According to a warning from Mozilla, this can lead to a memory error (use-after-free). With enough effort, malicious code could end up on computers.

Mozilla has the vulnerability (CVE – 2020-16044) when ” critical “classified. The Thunderbird version 78 6.1 is covered.
