Silicon Motion has introduced the new PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 controllers for SSD, the three new controllers are

  • SM 2264 for high performance
  • YE2267 for everyday use
  • SM 3500 XT for SSD without DRAM

Designed from the ground up with PCIe Gen4 technology and hardware features for true Gen4 performance, these new controllers too are energy efficient, have advanced error correction technology, path protection data and EMI .

Silicon controllers Motion are used in most SSD disks, like this goodram that we analyze here and it has the previous version of these controllers. These new controllers with Gen 4 3D TCL and QLC NAND technology , is already being installed in SSDs of the 10 world leading manufacturers of NAND. In this way we see how the main manufacturer of this type of controllers joins the future of PCIe Gen4 as a standard in SSD disks.

The controller YE2264 intended for performance has a ARM R8 quad-core CPU and 14 nm enables high performance with low power consumption. It has four channels of 16 Gb / s for data stream, supports eight NAND channels with a maximum of 1. 600 MT / s per channel. This unit offers a random read / write speed of up to 1. 000. 10 IOP and sequential up to 7. 200 / 6. 000 MB / s .

Controllers YE2267 and SM 3500 XT also have four channels of 14 Gb / s and four NAND channels with a maximum of 1024 MT / s, in this case the performance of Sequential read / write is 3900 / 3500 MB / s , unit SM 2267 XT without DRAM can adopt a form factor small without compromising unit performance. These two units have already entered series production and very soon we will be able to see them in the main SSDs on the market.
