Silicon Motion (SMI)
Silicon Motion , designer of controller for SSD , announced three new solutions PCI Express 4.0 compliant with NVMe 1.4 specification set to become the heart of many drives in the future: the SM model is aimed at M.2 SSDs looking for maximum performance oni , SM 2267 to models mainstream and SM 2267 XT ai SSD without DRAM on board pointing to containing the price .
The company reports that already ten NAND and SSD manufacturers have selected these PCI Express 4.0 controllers to match them memory 3D NAND TLC and QLC. The top model SM 2264 is based on the ARM Cortex-R8 quad-core processor with four PCI Express lanes and support for eight NAND channels for up to of 1600 MT / s per channel.
The controller, produced with process a 08 nanometers, ensures sequential read and write performance of 7400 MB / se 6800 MB / s , plus random write and read speeds of up to 1. 000. 000 of IOPS. The controller supports the seventh generation of ECC NANDXtend technology to ensure data integrity. The controller is currently undergoing sampling at some Silicon Motion partners.

The models SM 2267 and SM 2267 XT are de tied to mid-range and low-range units, providing four PCIe 4.0 lanes and four NAND channels (up a 1200 MT / s per channel). These features, according to the company, allow for the creation of SSDs with sequential read and write performance of respectively 3900 MB / se 3500 MB / s . The SM model 2267 includes a DRAM interface, while the XT variant is off guard. The two controllers have already gone into production.
