New from SilverStone is the MS 12 , an external M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure with USB-C type USB 3.2 Gen2x2 connectivity.
USB 3.2 Gen2x2 should be what we would know as USB 3.2 if the USB 3.2 nomenclature had not been perverted into what it is today for marketing reasons. In any case, this standard allows reaching speeds of up to 20 Gbps through the USB port , type C in this case, being able to take advantage of largely the read and write speeds of NVMe SSDs. It is increasingly common to see high-performance units with this connector.
The SilverStone MS 12 is capable of hosting NVMe SSD in M.2 format 2280
The SilverStone MS 12 supports M.2 SSDs up to 2280, that is, 22 mm wide by 80 mm long, but also has support for M.2 format 2260 and M.2 2242 thanks to the placement of a system of holes and screws to fix any of these three sizes of M.2 SSD.
Inside it hides an ASM controller 2364 from ASMedia, with support only for M.2 NVMe 1.3 PCie 3 x4 SSD (M.2 SATA not supported), and with which it is capable of reaching that maximum of 2. 000 Transfer MB / s,
The casing is metallic, specifically aluminum, and has a shape designed to function as a heatsink. In total, your measurements are mm x 15, 3 mm x 33, 3 mm next to a weight of 53 g. A USB cable of 30 cm.
