To CES 2021 in Las Vegas the Japanese company has released new details and an updated roadmap, according to which it plans to arrive on the market with a definitive product for the 2023

We talked about SkyDrive on end of last summer: the flying car , or the drone for people transport , had made its first demonstration flights. In particular it was the SD prototype – 03 to be taken off at interior of Toyota Test Field with a pilot at the controls, helped by a assisted control system necessary to ensure flight stability and safety.

To CES 2021 in Las Vegas, the Japanese company has released new details and an updated roadmap, according to which plans to arrive on the market with a definitive product for the 2023 . SkyDrive also showed a concept of what will be the definitive drone, characterized by a futuristic design and a much more developed propeller protection system than the current prototype. Furthermore, compared to SD – 03, which is a single-seater, the final version can carry two people (driver included).

The concept SD-XX already has several defined technical specifications: a maximum take-off weight of 500 kg, a maximum speed of 100 km / h, a range of between 20 is 30 minutes and a maximum flight height set at 337 meters . With dimensions of 4.0 x 3.5 x 1.5 meters, it will be the size of a couple of small cars side by side. The propulsion will be electric and on the four arms there will be 8 propellers in total, one pair for arm.

SkyDrive also provides for 2028 the introduction of the fully autonomous driving version and for the 2030 the start of the first service of self-driving air taxis in Osaka city .
