More and more Germans are buying smart TVs with Ultra HD resolution (3840 × 2160 Pixel, also called 4K). The industry association Deutsche TV Plattform estimates that around 4.7 million televisions were sold in this country in the first three quarters 2020. 3.3 million of these represent 3840 × 2160 pixels, which gives a market share of around 70 percent results. However, most television sets should only be about data processing and not about a particularly beautiful display with high brightness: 97 percent of all between January and September 2020 TVs purchased support at least one HDR format, but only 55 Percent of dynamic processes such as HDR 10 + or Dolby Vision.

Ultra HD 2020 has long since arrived in the mass market. In the price comparison, corresponding televisions can be found for less than 250 euros – and even such cheap devices carry HDR 10 – Certificates, although they only have brightness values ​​from 250 to 300 cd / m² in the top.
