The pictures of the day caused some confusion from Saturday to Monday, because they showed pictures from the year 2013 . Now you could say that it is a nice memory of good times gone by – and the pictures convey freshness and joie de vivre. The choice was made by an algorithm that steps in if there is an error in the database. From Tuesday the editors were again in control of the selection of images.

For the rest of the week we presented you with special perspectives. Starting with a cobweb with morning dew that looks as if the drops were made of mercury. For the picture on Wednesday, the photographer had to overcome personal fears and take on physical strain. The result is an impressive fisheye motif with the appropriate title “Car Park Cathedral”.

Thursday also showed a special perspective, the architectural photo from Cologne inspires with a perfect composition and symmetry in a square format. Finally, our picture of the day on Friday tells of a time of travel and shows a scene that, despite its colorful appearance, has a deeply depressing effect.
