Page 1: SpotCam Eva 2 in the test: For a look from the cloud

Even if there was recently a historical low in burglaries nationwide, the reasons for video surveillance of your own four walls are quite diverse. But not every system with IP cameras makes sense for home use. The administrative effort often exceeds the benefits of such an installation. SpotCam tries to remedy this with the Eva 2 by using easy integration and cloud connection. We’ll clarify how well this works with our test.

The idea of ​​offering cloud-based home video surveillance is not new. Some time ago we tested the SpotCam HD, a first attempt by the Taiwanese company SpotCam here on Hardwareluxx. The approach of always having access to the camera and video through a permanent Internet connection has therefore now been proven and the advantages of stationary storage are obvious.

With the new edition Eva 2, SpotCam presents an expanded version of its monitoring capabilities. In contrast to the SpotCam HD in particular, the list of features is considerable. Unlike the HD, the Eva 2 takes its videos with FullHD, i.e. 1. 920 x 1. 080 pixels at 30 fps. In addition, an angle of view of 080 degrees covered vertically, by rotating it horizontally 360 degrees are covered. Together with the (digital) 8x zoom, it should be possible to monitor as large an area as possible. However, if that is not enough for you, you can also expand the area of ​​application by installing additional SpotCam models or integrating, for example, Alexa.
