Security researchers have found an unencrypted online database with a size of 72 GB , which contained more than 380 millions of passwords for accounts and services around the world , something that has led them to check its data, thus verifying that the data was valid with respect to the Spotify service.

Unknown the origin of the passwords, but the researchers believe that it is a database that compiles the data from various sources, including other smaller leaks, and it is believed that this data could be used in an attempt to attack accounts of other services with these credentials.

Because of this, Spotify has already been up and running and the service has launched a campaign to reinstate more than 350. 000 passwords to mitigate risk that the accounts could have in the case of continuing with the old passwords.

If we have received any notice from Spotify, it is recommended to change both the password of the service as the password of the services that we have with the same credentials to avoid attacks on them through Spotify data.
