Strong optimizations: Epic Games reduced Fortnite by 60 GB with a patch
Source: Hardware Luxx added 22nd Oct 2020Epic Games announced several things on the official Twitter profile of its popular battle royale game Fortnite yesterday. In addition to the announcement of the new Halloween event “Midas Revenge”, there is also exciting news related to the associated update.
So far the game devoured a meager 90 GB of storage space. The updates were always quite large and therefore it always took a while, especially for players with a bad line, to install them. The latest patch aims to address all of these issues. Although the latest update has a considerable size of 27 GB, the installation is always worthwhile. After loading the patch, the occupied space of Fortnite should increase by whole 60 GB, to just once 30 Reduce GB. This should not only reduce loading times, the improvements should also make new updates smaller than before.

As a rule, fast PCIe SSDs with high storage capacities are still quite expensive, which is why many players install such large titles on a hard drive with high capacity and prefer to keep the SSD free for the operating system. However, this in turn increases the loading times considerably. So the new information about the patch is good news for all Fortnite fans.
