We are now used to seeing exorbitant figures when it comes to collecting, especially in the case of video games. Here, then, is that a very rare copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 has just been sold for a figure of record: ben 156. 000 dollars for the timeless platform of 1988. As confirmed by the Heritage Auction in Dallas, this is the highest bid ever made for a video game.

Super Mario Bros. 3 breaks first episode record

The auction that featured this sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 was inaugurated with an initial price of 62. 500 dollars, with twenty bidders who vied for the coveted heirloom.

One of the peculiarities of the newly sold copy lies in the design of the box: the word ‘Bros.’ , typically depicted on the right side of the title, has been formatted here on the left side and slightly covers Mario’s hand. The other factor that has enormously increased the value of the game coincides with its perfect condition , confirmed from the classification Wata 9.2 A + .

To be clear, last July a copy was sold that reported the design just described, but due to the slightly lower quality of the packaging (Wata 9.0 A) the cartridge was auctioned at ‘soli’ 38. 400 dollars .

With the final offer of 156. 000 dollars, Super Mario Bros. 3 has become the most expensive game ever auctioned, a record that, until a few hours ago, belonged to another title dedicated to the little hopping plumber: Super Mario Bros. (1985) , sold last July for 114. dollars.
