However, the biggest event was definitely the takeover of the ZeniMax group with its subsidiary Bethesda Softworks by Microsoft. But this is not the end of big transactions in the gaming industry, because Take-Two Interactive also made purchases, which decided to invest in the legendary Codemasters, spending almost a billion dollars. Take-Two Interactive has invested in Codemasters. The contract, which amounts to approximately 994 million dollars, will be finalized in the first quarter 2021 of the year . Under the publisher’s wings, among others GTA and RDR series will hit brands such as DiRT, F1, GRID and Project CARS.

Microsoft acquires Bethesda along with all of the studio’s games

A few days ago rumors hit the network that Take-Two Interactive was going to take over the existing ones from 1986 of the year Codemasters, a company known for its series of games such as Colin McRae, DiRT, F1 and GRID. The rumors have been confirmed – both companies have reached an official agreement under which Take-Two will pay for the purchase of the British company approx. 994 million dollars (750 £ million) in stocks and cash. Both companies confirmed that the finalization of the agreement should be expected in the first quarter 2021 of the year, when the transaction is approved by shareholders.

Codemasters has acquired the studio responsible for the Project series CARS

In an official press release, Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two’s CEO, revealed that the acquisition of Codemasters will significantly expand the company’s portfolio, and the racing game brands will perfectly fit into the sports product range offered by 2K Sports (NBA 2K, WWE 2K or PGA Tour 2K). We remind you that in addition to the aforementioned series, Codemasters also includes Project CARS, whose creators, Slightly Mad Studios, were acquired last year. Code Masters also have the rights to games licensed under the World Rally Championship (WRC).
