Are you terrified by the scale of RGB lighting in products dedicated to gamers? Do you remember the times of the base components devoid of any visual quirks? Do you miss classic black colors? In fact, most of the gaming products sold today, including RAM memory, receive little illumination. Fortunately, there are also manufacturers that perceive the needs of ordinary users. One of the suppliers of such sets is TeamGroup, which offers T-Force Dark Zα sets available in several variants, while our editorial office has the highest positioned model with settings 4000 MHz CL 18.

As you probably have already figured out, for example on the basis of numerous RAM memory tests available in PurePC, this component has finally ceased to be considered secondary in issues affecting the performance of the computer system. Conscious users assembling gaming machines treat it almost as a priority today. In fact – fast RAM memory is a necessity for multi-core processors, so that data exchange runs smoothly and no bottleneck on the CPU-RAM-GPU line is created. Of course, the framerate increment will not always be visible, although players will benefit the most here. You just have to remember that measurements taken in graphic places confuse the picture of the situation, because only in processor scenarios you can see clear benefits of using faster memory. This is especially true of the demanding computer games that form the basis of this publication, although there will also be utility programs.

TeamGroup T-Force Dark Zα is a classic DDR4 set, without backlight and unnecessary goodies, which were built on SK Hynix memories.

TeamGroup T-Force Dark Zα kits are theoretically dedicated to the AM4 platform and AMD Ryzen processors, but of course this is only marketing seasoned with a sticker on the packaging, because all the manufacturer can do is prepare a profile with ready settings. The rest depends mainly on the memory chips themselves and / or the potential of the controller in the processor. Performance tests were carried out on the LGA platform 1200 and Intel Core i5 – 10600 K, as I haven’t seen any AMD Ryzen yet 3000 / 5000 capable of working with Infinity Fabric timed 2000 MHz. The reviewed TeamGroup T-Force Dark Zα would then have to operate in a suboptimal asynchronous mode, which would have a negative impact on the performance of the entire kit. Here, the current stability limit remains synchronous 3800 / 1900 MHz (1: 1), while the Intel platform allows you to operate the dividers virtually freely, which is also the most important in studying the overclocking potential.

TeamGroup T-Force Dark DDR4 Memories I received the Zα in the most cool variant, i.e. working with clock speeds 4000 MHz, delays 18 – 22 – 22 – 42 and voltage 1. 35 V. There are also sets with the frequency 3200 MHz and timings 16 – 18 – 18 – 38 and 16 – 20 – 20-40, while 3600 and 4000 MHz are set to CL only 18 – 22 – 22 – 42. Memories also come in sets with a capacity 16, 32 and 64 GB. In addition to TeamGroup T-Force Dark Zα, characterized by black colors, the manufacturer’s offer includes Dark models in gray and red. However, this applies to weaker varieties, starting with the denominations 2666 MHz, where the maximum is only 3600 MHz. The reviewed set is based on SK Hynix Single Rank memories, so this proposal is aimed at less demanding users who do not mind slightly weaker performance (at least in relation to the very expensive Samsung B-die), as well as avoid overclocking. The rest will come out in the wash as always …
