The German software company TeamViewer has taken over the start-up for customer engagement software Xaleon, which is based in Linz, Austria, for an unspecified “low” double-digit million amount. It was agreed not to disclose the exact purchase price, TeamViewer announced on Tuesday in Göppingen.

Screen sharing and customer engagement TeamViewer is particularly interested in the core product of Xaleon, as its message shows. This is a technology that enables screen content to be shared (screen sharing) in web sessions without user data being transmitted. According to TeamViewer, the software works “completely GDPR-compliant”.

Xaleon has also developed a software suite for customer care. It includes chatbots, live and video chats and an option to conclude legally binding contracts with customers via a digital signature. Xaleon provides interfaces to the most important customer service and ticket systems for easy integration.

Integration and further development According to TeamViewer, the functions have a “very great interest” among their own customers triggered after it had already been integrated into TeamViewer Tensor, an enterprise platform for remote access, remote support, remote control and collaboration. That is why TeamViewer decided to buy Xaleon. The purchase price consists of a fixed payment in the low double-digit range and annual payments over four years. TeamViewer says that an additional variable component is based on the achievement of defined corporate goals.

Together with Xaleon, TeamViewer wants to “strategically develop” the functions, said TeamViewer CEO Oliver Steil. “Now we are investing in the area of ​​customer engagement, as we see an increasing need for solutions for online customer interactions that replace physical sales and customer service processes as an important part of the value chain in all industries,” said Steil, justifying the purchase.

Xaleon was founded 2018 as Chatvisor GmbH and employs more than 20 employees in Linz.
