In 3DMark Advanced and Professional, the result-based game performance evaluation tool is based on data collected by the company from its own tests.

Known for its domestic roots, UL Benchmarks has released a major update to the 3DMark test family. This time, however, this is not a new test, but a reform to improve the usefulness of the results page.

3DMark’s new results page is designed to tell the user easily the score, what category the result is about and how it compares to other configurations. The screen also displays configuration information such as temperatures and clock frequencies as a handy graph, and perhaps the biggest innovation: a tool that evaluates configuration performance in popular games.

Performance ratings will initially be available for Apex Legends, Battlefield V, Fortnite, GTA V, and Red Dead Redemption 2, but the range will be expanded with future updates. The user can select the estimated performance for either 1080 p or 1440 p resolution at the game’s highest graphics settings, excluding radius tracking support. The game performance assessment is based on UL Benchmarks ’extensive sampling of test data, which it accumulates by conducting test runs with hundreds of different partner configurations each year. An example is the almost linear relationship between the score of the 3DMark Time Spy test and the screen refresh rate of a Fortnite game (1440 p, Ultra without radius tracking). You can read more about the relationship between game performance and 3DMark score in the UL Benchmarks guide.

A new scoreboard will automatically appear for all 3DMark users, but a comparison of game performance is only available in the Advanced and Professional versions. The 3DMark Advanced license is currently 85% discounted on Steam for 3, 74 euros. The offer is valid until December 1.
