Apple has released an update to iOS version 14. 3 for your HomePod and HomePod mini , and it seems that, since the update, some HomePod mini are able to work from a charger of 18 W, something that up now it was not possible and had left the owners of the HomePod mini in a delicate situation.

It should be noted that the Apple HomePod mini arrives with a 20 W charger included in its box, although it is always possible that, in transfers, moves or breakdowns, we cannot have this feeder, something that used to be a problem before this update since was not compatible with the 18 W.

Until now, if the transformer used was less than 20 W, the HomePod only responded with an orange light and refused to work, while As of this update, some 18 W adapters will be able to drive Apple speakers.

As we can see from wccftech, this seems to be due to improved support for power profiles , so it is possible that Apple has managed to fine-tune the speaker’s consumption so that it can work on these lower power transformers, thus expanding its compatibility.
