After a new update in the Epic Games Launcher, some players seem to have problems with excessive CPU usage when the game platform is running in the background. According to reports from some users on Reddit, the problem seems to occur particularly on computers equipped with an AMD Ryzen processor. The site Hothartware.com, for example, carried out a test with the Epic Games Launcher open, in which the temperature of a water-cooled Ryzen 9 5950 X of 37 on 53 ° C rise.

The high network activity of the launcher is currently being discussed as a possible reason for the high performance hunger. So it constantly sends data to up to 22 server. The scope of this data also extends to the up to 11 times of information, such as what competitor Steam or GeForce Experience transmits. However, since this was also the case in the previous version, it is doubtful whether this is really the cause of the high load.

Players who are currently not yet on the version 11. 0.1, it is therefore advisable to wait until Epic Games has fixed the problem with an update. If you have already installed the new version, you can alternatively try to get an older version of the launcher using the remaining installers in the download folder. It should be mentioned, however, that in this process all titles and other software have to be downloaded again. Another, quite simple solution is to close all background processes associated with the launcher.

Epic Games is currently offering one game every day for free until the end of the year, which you can find out here.
