The Medium, PC requirements: you'll need an RTX 3080 for 4K with RTX On

A few days after launch on Xbox and PC, Bloober Team releases the list of hardware requirements for the PC version of The Medium. Horror will be quite demanding on the performance front: you will need an RTX 3080 or an RX 6800 XT to achieve 4K with Ray Tracing enabled.

In a few days Xbox Series X | S players and PC will be able to get their hands on one of the most interesting games of this season. The Medium promises an unprecedented horror experience, offering innovative storytelling and a creepy atmosphere.

The production of Bloober Team also offers a technical sector state-of-the-art, embellished with support for Ray Tracing. The developer has therefore released the list of minimum and recommended requirements for the PC version of The Medium: to “squeeze” this game you will need a powerful processor and a latest generation video card.

Similar to what CD Projekt did for Cyberpunk 2077, Bloober Team shared a handy table highlighting the different graphic configurations available in The Medium. Here too we find a clear division between the standard presets and those related to Ray Tracing, a technology that requires a significant performance boost – and the hardware requirements confirm this.

Last summer Bloober Team was talking about the new GeForce RTX 3080 defining it as the GPU of reference for the best gaming experience. The hard to find video card of the Ampere family is actually the recommended choice to be able to run The Medium at 2160 p / 30 fps with RTX On – but you can always opt for a RX 6800 XT by AMD. By renouncing Ray Tracing, you will have to “settle” for a Super RTX 2060 or a 5700 XT to target high presets (1440 p).

A few days ago the Polish software house also unveiled further details about The Medium’s Ray Tracing, which apparently will use two different modes: one Performance Mode and one Quality Mode . While the former will guarantee the best performance, with the Quality Mode the game will be able to offer the best visual sector with shadows and reflections rendered in real time, as well as exploiting the DLSS and other benefits provided by Nvidia hardware.

We remind you that The Medium will be available from the next 28 January on Xbox Series X, Series S and of course on PC. It can be purchased on the Microsoft marketplace or redeemed at no additional cost from the catalog of Xbox Game Pass , already from the day one.
