Confusion continues over the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 continues. The Palit company has recently registered in the EEC (Euroasian Economic Commission) database a long list of GeForce models from the Ampere family, i.e. GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3060, which – as we know well for a long time – is to appear on the market in two versions. This week, the Greens at their CES conference 2021 only revealed the GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB of VRAM. An additional variant is to be released later. After the announcement of the fifth Ampere graphics card, the rumors did not come true, because the desktop version of the graphics card in question got a more trimmed version of the GA chip 106. It will also be used in GeForce RTX 3060 with 6 GB VRAM, which is to replace the RTX market 3050 Ti.

According to unofficial reports, Nvidia has withdrawn from the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, renaming it GeForce RTX 3060 6 GB. It is supposed to use the same layout as the 12 GB version. The premiere was delayed and is currently scheduled for the second quarter 2021 of the year.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 – specification and technical aspects of the new Ampere cards for laptops

According to original reports, GeForce RTX 3060 was supposed to use GA chip 106 – 400 with 3840 CUDA cores, and in the meantime it turned out that only a mobile unit can boast that many stream processors. Desktop GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB, in turn, has 3584 CUDA cores, and this was supposed to be in the lower-positioned model – GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. The latter card has been heard in the lobby for a long time, although the Igor’s Lab portal suggested that Nvidia decided to abandon the Ti note, planning to release only the regular RTX 3060. RTX chip 3050 Ti has not been deleted, only according to VideoCardz, it is to be sold as RTX 3060 6 GB, although manufacturers like Palit register it in the EEC database. Probably just in case – Nvidia likes to change plans, e.g. the decision to use GA 106 – 300 instead of GA 106 – 400 in desktop RTX 3060 was reported at the last minute.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB of GDDR6 memory – announcement of the new Ampere graphics card. We know the price and release date

It will come as no surprise that the GeForce RTX 3060 6 GB will be based on this same GPU as the version with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory. Both models will have a GA chip 106 – 300 with 3584 CUDA cores and 192 – bit data bus. It is not known if there will be any differences other than the amount of VRAM and the price (12 GB is to cost from 1550 PLN). The lower model, the RTX 3050, which at the moment is not going to receive a Ti version at all, will be based on the Ampere GA 107 with 2304 CUDA cores and 4 GB memory GDDR6 (on 128 – bit bus) and TGP level 90 W. This is to be the first GPU in the xx series 50 with RT and Tensor cores. Due to the poor availability of available GPUs, Nvidia decided to delay the launch of RTX 3060 6 GB and RTX 3050. They will be released at the earliest in the second quarter 2021 of the year, just like RTX 3080 Ti.
