The Snapdragon SoC 480 comes as a solution for 5G connectivity in lower-mid-range smartphones.

Qualcomm has added a new SoC to offer 5G connectivity to the mid-low range . This processor will be key in smartphones around 200 Euros, as they can enjoy the 5G with Qualcomm without having to fork out for higher-end models like the powerful Snapdragon 888. The Snapdragon 720 G also offers 5G connectivity, but at a higher price as we could see in the Oppo Reno4 5G .

He SoC Snapdragon 480 comes with 8 cores in a distribution of 2 + 6 cores . For this, it has 2 high-performance Cortex-A cores 76 running at 2 GHz and the other 6 will be Cortex -A 55 at 1.8 GHz. Therefore, this new SoC will be able to perfectly move applications of daily use and will offer a lower consumption than the current Qualcomm solutions for the Snapdragon range 400.

Some features that this SoC brings are support for up to triple camera configuration 64 + 25 + 13 MP , LPDDR4X RAM memory of 2133. The graphic part of the SoC is based on a Adreno GPU 619 , the most powerful in the range. The Snapdragon 480 is, in addition, a processor manufactured at 8 nm, newer than the rest of the series 400. It is expected that during this month of January several models of smartphones with this new SoC will be announced.

With 15 years ago I started to overclock to my PC to get every extra FPS I could in games and scratch a few milliseconds in SuperPi, while I was constantly posting about hardware on the Geeknetic forum as a user and reader. They were probably so fed up with continually reading me on the forum that I became part of the writing team, where I continue to report on the latest in technology. Astrophysics and PC games are the hobbies that, after hardware, cover most of my free time.
