The new Synology NAS lands in the high-end of the manufacturer and integrates a Ryzen 4-core to handle the traffic generated by the 6 storage bays.

The Synology DS 1621 + hits the high-end with no less than 6 bays of 3.5 “convertible to 2.5” . Being oriented for intensive and continuous use, the NAS incorporates 2 fans to maintain temperatures. In addition to the 6 main bays we also have two M.2 ports for storage units with NVMe, which multiplies still plus speed.

As standard we have the AMD Ryzen V 1500 B of 4 cores at 2.2 GHz and 4 GB of RAM , being able to install a maximum of 32 GB in double slot configuration. It has 4 GbE ports that support link aggregation , in addition to 3 USB 3.0 ports and two eSATA.

Looking ahead, the Synology DS 1621 + can add up to 16 bays using modules offered by the manufacturer (which can reach up to 108 TB in a single volume) plus 10 GbE NIC3 cards added separately.

This model comes with 3-year warranty and should begin to be seen in stores in the next few days, although Synology has not revealed the price. As usual, this NAS will come with all the benefits of the company’s own DSM operating system. Today’s is an improvement compared to the one launched in February this year, the DS 1520 +.
