“Through the night”: the winning photos of the competition
Source: Heise.de added 08th Jan 2021The new year starts with good news for the winners of our c’t photography competition “Through the night”. There are three excellent works from our photo gallery on the podium. For the second time in a row, Rolf Fries wins our competition, this time with the picture “Wasserraben”, which shows the full moon over a colony of Comorans.
In second place, the Uerdingen Rhine Bridge appears in black and white at night. Gallery photographer volmi 2017 created a symmetrical, classic architectural shot. Thanks to the stars of light from the street lamps and the background disappearing into the darkness, it almost looks as if it were hanging in the sky.
Third place was taken by gallery photographer Stellaluna with a long exposure of the port of Hamburg. The blurring lights make the picture seem almost surreal, but the existing traces of light show the unloading of the freighter and in turn bring life to the scenery.
Stars and northern lights In places four to ten you can discover more wonderful pictures. The starry night sky is always welcome. Foto-Ceha took fourth place with a picture of the Milky Way over the Zösental. Eighth place went to Kosh-hh with the Milky Way Beamer, the Flügger beacon on Fehmarn on a new moon night in August. In ninth place, our gallery members voted Tarcitaxx, who held the Perseids inside an old fortress with the fisheye. The northern polar lights appear really colorful for night photos on the fifth place of John_H.
Empty and busy streets But not only Nature and the sky tell nocturnal stories. Our gallery photographers also cleverly captured culture for the photo competition. On the sixth rank, an illuminated urban jungle by dietele greets the viewer, it is still a long way from sleeping here. Seventh place is very different. Gallery photographer Flashcube underlines the dreariness of the “night shift” with soft black and white. The attentive observer finds the lonely telephone booth in tenth place no less dreary. Ralph Gräf named his picture “No One’s Calling”. The top ten of the c’t photography photo competition here again at a glance:
