Toshiba announced the new hard drives in the Toshiba MG series 08 – D , designed to meet the needs of companies in such as business intelligence, data management and archiving and, more generally, use in small and medium-sized business servers. The new models offer better performance combined with greater energy efficiency and lower overall cost of ownership than the previous series.

Toshiba MG discs 08 – D improve performance and reliability for SMEs

Toshiba has used its technology air-filled next generation for MG discs 08 – D: the chamber in which the plates rotate is full of air and is sealed; in this way Toshiba has managed to optimize the operation of the disks and reduce consumption, thus leading to a better energy efficiency .

The new Toshiba MG range 08 – D offers denominations of 4, 6 and 8 TB with both SATA 3 (with 6 Gbps transfer rate) and SAS (12 Gbps). The 4TB model is available with sectors from 512 real bytes (512 n), 512 emulated bytes (512 e) and from 4 Real KB (4Kn), while 6 and 8 TB models offer sectors 512 and and 4Kn ; this data is important in case you have to insert the disks in already existing RAID configurations.

All disks offer a maximum load of 550 TB the year , a regime of rotation equal to 7. 200 rpm and are in 3.5 inch format. Compared to the previous generation the transfer speed has increased, with peak performance which, in the case of the 4 TB model, Toshiba claims to be higher than 23% and arriving at 243 MiB / s. The reliability figure also improves, with the average time between failures (MTTF) going from 1.4 million hours to 2 million hours .
