Last month, a hacking group claimed to have compromised Ubisoft’s systems and got their hands on confidential files and documents. We haven’t heard much since then, but now, it looks like the group has released Watch Dogs Legion’s source code on the internet. 

According to some sources, there is a 560GB bundle of files currently floating around filesharing sites containing the source code for Watch Dogs Legion. Proof was offered in the form of screenshots of the archive’s file structure.

Speaking with Eurogamer, an Ubisoft spokesperson has confirmed that the publisher is aware of the leak. The company is now “investigating a potential data security incident”, something that probably should have happened several weeks ago when claims of a hack first popped up.

With complete access to the source code, it is highly likely that piracy groups will be able to release cracked version of the game. Beyond that, if modders get their hands on it, they will be able to tinker with pretty much all aspects of the game.
