Unpacked & touched: Razer Tomahawk ATX – can Razer also handle cases?
Source: Hardware Luxx added 13th Dec 2020
With Tomahawk ATX and Tomahawk Mini-ITX, Razer has added to Razercon 2020 presented its own range of housings. We have received the larger model in midi tower format for testing and want to introduce it briefly.
The Tomahawk ATX is essentially a conventional steel case. Razer designs it in a very straightforward manner, but sets accents with a Chroma RGB lighting system. Specifically, both a Razer logo in the front and the case back are illuminated. Lighting control is possible via the Chroma RGB software and by connecting via a USB 2.0 post connector. Heavily tinted panes made of tempered glass sit on both sides of the case. These glass sides open elegantly as swing doors. In the lid, the I / O panel not only provides two Razer green USB 3.0 ports and audio jacks, but also a USB Type-C interface.
The interior is divided in a mainboard chamber and in a chamber for the power supply unit and drive cage. The drive cage can be moved in depth. It takes up to three hard drives or SSDs. The mainboard chamber is generous enough for taller tower coolers and longest graphics cards. However, Razer is anything but generous with the case fans. Only one 99 – mm is pre-assembled -Fan on the back wall. Optionally, fans can be retrofitted behind the front, under the lid and on the power supply cover. The use of an AiO or self-made water cooling is also possible. For the lid, Razer sees a maximum of one 240 – or 280 – mm radiator in front, for the front a maximum of one 360 – or 280 – mm radiator.

Two covers behind the mainboard tray ensure that that cables can be effectively hidden. The Chroma RGB controller is hidden under one of these covers. On the other hand, two further 2.5-inch drive spaces are directly visible in the form of drive carriers on the mainboard tray.
Compared to cases with similar uses, the Tomahawk ATX currently looks expensive. It is used by Razer for 229, 99 Euro offered. The smaller Tomahawk Mini-ITX should 140, 99 Euro.
