USA blacklist dozens of Chinese companies

The US government has blacklisted dozens of Chinese companies to cut off Chinese access to US technology. The Department of Commerce in Washington announced on Friday that it had put chip maker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) on the list to protect US national security. Trade Minister Wilbur Ross told Fox Business that 60 other Chinese companies had been added to the list, eleven of which had connections to SMIC.

References to links with the military There are references to links between SMIC and the Chinese military the Ministry of Commerce made clear in its communication. “We will not allow advanced US technology to help build the military of an increasingly aggressive enemy,” said Ross. Companies that want to do business with SMIC will need a special permit for this in the future.

Ross stated that the total would be 689 Companies on the US black list in question 296 are Chinese companies, including the technology group Huawei and its affiliates. The ban against SMIC had already been announced.
