Valve Half-Life
After the warm welcome given to Half Life: Alyx (2020), the Valve team is officially back in full swing when it comes to video game development.
This is confirmed by the same Gabe Newell , co-founder and president of Valve Corporation, which talks about new titles in development at American studios. What’s boiling in the pot? Another Half-Life? A third chapter of Portal? Gaben replied, but in his own way.
Valve is back in full swing: “We have more games in development”
On the occasion of a long interview granted to 1 News , Newell talked about his company’s latest projects, as well as the newly acquired residency in New Zealand – a decision that would have inspired some Valve employees to move to ‘Middle-earth’.
Returning to talking about video games, the success of Half-Life: Alyx gave Gabe Newell and associates a generous injection of confidence, which is what was needed to push the team to invest again in singleplayer experiences: “We absolutely have video games in development that we will announce, it’s fun to release games” , an enthusiastic Newell explained.
The boss of Valve did not want to reveal the identity of the next projects and, when asked if there was any news regarding a new Half-Life or another Portal , Gaben stated the following: “I managed not to talk about these things for a long time and I hope to continue not talking about it as long as there are controversial issues “.
From the hypothetical and coveted Half-Life 3 we move on to the latest rumors spread on the net. When asked about the mysterious ‘Citadel’ project , Newell replied: “We use a lot of codenames, are you referring to one of them? I don’t know what Citadel is, what is it? Just to be clear, we have a lot of codenames and these change over time “.
In short, we just have to grit our teeth and wait for the next announcements from the American giant. In the meantime, let’s go back to combing through the rumors, like the one that anticipates a potential update of the titles based on Source Engine 2 for support for Ray Tracing.
