VAXEE XE-S Wireless Review
Source: Tech Power Up added 25th Sep 2024Introduction
Established in 2019 by the original founding team of Zowie, VAXEE is a peripherals company and shop platform. Nominally just a smaller XE Wireless, the XE-S Wireless goes beyond its bigger sibling in many ways. At 60 g, the XE-S Wireless weighs 18 g less than the XE Wireless, which is only partially due to the reduction in size. Rather, most of the weight savings come from a revised internal design, which still keeps structural integrity intact to ensure no flexing or creaking. Instead of a PAW3395, the XE-S Wireless comes with PixArt’s latest PAW3950 sensor. On the customer-facing side of things, the most notable improvement brought by the 3950 is improved tracking on glass surfaces. Even though the XE-S Wireless still uses an 400 mAh battery, expected battery life differs from the 3395 wireless releases from VAXEE, as battery life is higher in standard mode at 110 hours, yet significantly lower in competitive mode, which includes polling rates of 2000 and 4000 Hz. For the main buttons, the same Huano switches as before see use, and the mechanical scroll wheel encoder still comes from ALPS. Configuration is still done entirely on-board through buttons and button combinations, though VAXEE is also working on a software solution. The XE-S Wireless is available exclusively through the VAXEE shop in black, white, pink, yellow, blue, and orange. A left-handed variant is also available as a separate SKU.
