With the growing volume of operations carried out in the cloud, it is inevitable that companies need to protect themselves from problems by backing up your data and applications. For this purpose Veeam has announced the update of its two solutions to ensure the security of corporate data in the cloud : Veeam Backup for AWS v3 and AWS support in Veeam Backup & Replication .

Veeam Backup for AWS v3: the cloud also needs backup

Protecting data is important even when it is stored in the cloud. With over 1 million active users on AWS, there are many applications residing in the cloud that need to save and secure data. Veeam Backup for AWS v3 addresses this need by allowing companies to backup and restore their Amazon RDS databases natively.

The product allows you to fully automate the backup process in a similar way to what is already possible to do with local data managed through Backup & Replication. Veeam claims that entire databases can be restored from backups in “seconds” .

New features introduced in version 3 include support for backup and restore of Amazon Virtual Private Cloud machine settings ; this support includes the ability to restore even using different AWS accounts and regions than those with which the backup was made, so as to facilitate troubleshooting, the disaster recovery and the creation of test and development environments.

Role based access control is also present (RBAC , Role Based Access Control ) to be able to delegate privileges and accesses. The latest news is represented by the support also for AWS Outpost , that is the servers present in the company data center controllable, however, directly from the AWS control panel.

The announcement states that Veeam Backup for AWS is available as a free stand-alone solution, valid for up to 10 instances on AWS, or as a paid solution (with prices starting at 40 $ per instance per year), or as part of Veeam Backup & Replication, in which case you can manage instances of AWS like traditional machines.
