Video: We built a mechanical keyboard on the Idobao ID80 v2 chassis
Source: IO Tech added 07th Jan 2021We assembled a 75% do-it-yourself mechanical keyboard, the parts of which cost a total of about 320
Recently, in self-built mechanical keyboards, instead of soldering to a circuit board, hotswap sockets for switches have become more common, allowing switches to be easily and cost-effectively exchanged for others. We ordered an Idobao 75% ID 80 v2 – a keyboard that supports the ISO key layout
The video goes through the parts ordered for the project, attaches the switches to the circuit board, puts the key caps in place and adjusts the key layout and RGB lighting with the firmware update using VIA.
- Idobao : ID 80 v2 circuit board + aluminum frame + stabilizers + duties approx. 212 €
- Mechboards.co.uk: Cherry MX Green Switches approx. 55 €
- Drop: Tai Hao Exotic PBT key caps approx. 50 €
- Motonet: Reel grease & brushes approx. 15 €
