Viking City Builder is the first ray tracing strategy with NVIDIA DLSS
Source: Pure PC added 26th Oct 2020Recently, Nvidia released the game list on 2020 years that will receive ray tracing and / or DLSS. Apart from Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs Legion and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are mainly all less recognizable, often independent productions. The list of titles that support ray tracing technology will gradually expand over the next year. In most cases, it is about shooters, action games and RPGs, but the first strategy with ray tracing and DLSS is on the horizon. I am talking about Viking City Builder, an RTS created by one (!) Person. Although the information about ray tracing support was known earlier, only now the manufacturer decided to present the differences in graphics on the example of screenshots and the trailer, while confirming the presence of DLSS 2.0.
Viking City Builder will be the first strategy to support ray tracing and DLSS 2.0. The game, for which one (!) Person is responsible, was shown on the screenshots (differences in graphics are shown) and in the trailer.

Viking City Build is a classic real-time strategy game about building, developing, managing, and acquiring the necessary resources for a settlement in the Viking age. An important part of the game is also to create fortifications and an army that will repel attacks from Europeans who previously settled in the areas we took over. It will also be necessary to conquer the surrounding villages (you will even have the option to go to the sea).

Viking City Build is based on the Unreal Engine 4 and looks really good from the visual side, with a rather specific “raw” style. To increase the quality of the graphics even more, the producer of Roslagen (yes, one person is responsible for this RTS) decided to add ray tracing to the game, which will include three effects: reflections, shadows and ambient occlusion. Realizing the negative impact on performance, the developer also promised DLSS support, which is expected to improve the operation of the strategy to 40%. The differences in the visual setting, which can be seen with the naked eye, are illustrated in the screenshots below. A ray-tracing trailer will also hit the web today (not yet available at the time of writing, but is included in the publication). The exact release date of Viking City Build is unknown, but it is expected to be released in 2021.
