Volkswagen , in the distant 2017, had presented his first idea of electric minivan at Detroit auto show showing concept ID BUZZ , subsequently the company had also presented a tribute to the icon T2 minibus making the Type model 20, maintaining the well-known classic forms but revisiting the project with new accessories and a modern electric drive system.
To date, the interest raised by the ID BUZZ, has prompted Volkswagen to insert it among the models to be brought into production , with the 2022 indicated at the time as the year of the availability of the series version, already outlining two purchase options.
The higher-end model featuring a all-wheel drive system with a total power of 369 CV combined with a battery pack of 111 kWh able to guarantee over 400 km of autonomy; the less expensive version instead configured by rear-wheel drive, up to 268 CV and a smaller battery from 83 kWh for an autonomy closer to 300 km.
The plans outlined by Volkswagen now, however, seem to accumulate delays as declared by the CEO Scott Keogh of the American division of the automaker: ?? I wish the ID BUZZ would come next year. But it won’t come that soon; will be a little later “ indicating the 2023 as the launch year of this electric vehicle.
Already outlined, at least for the United States, the sites in which the ID BUZZ will be produced, i.e. the plant in Hanover and probably also that of Chattanooga in Tennessee.
