The 2020 was a turning point year for the Volkswagen Group , as also evidenced by the figure for sales of electrified cars, in increase of 214% compared to last year. The sales were mainly driven by vehicles plug-in hybrids , but a very important role was played also by fully electric vehicles .

Best selling all-electric vehicles

In 2020, in fact, Volkswagen sold 231. 600 all-electric vehicles. These are the most successful models, with the corresponding number of units sold:

• Volkswagen ID.3 56. 500 unit
• Audi e-tron 47.300 unit
• Volkswagen e-Golf 41.300 unit
• Volkswagen e-up! 22. 200 unit
• Porsche Taycan 20. 00 0 units

Of course it is the ID.3 project on which Volkswagen is hinging its entire electrification strategy, and on the new MEB modular electrification platform. It recently stopped e-Golf production to make room for the ID.3. The 2021 will be an equally important year for the Wolfsburg company, in which it will aim to consolidate the success of the ID.3 but also to increase the sales of Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron, already very satisfactory this year as regards the all-electric of Stuttgart. In the 2021, in addition, will also arrive Volkswagen ID .4 , the first electric SUV of the German house.
