Mask or no mask? Whoever had predicted at the beginning of the corona pandemic that cheap and simple protection would become a political minefield, would hopefully have been laughed at. But things turned out differently and, especially in the USA, mouth and nose protection has become a political bone of contention. If you don’t put it on, you want to set an example and if you contradict it, it often gets heated. Disney recently tried something new in the dispute and at least ensured compliance with the mask requirement in the take-away photos. But that’s all over again.

The internet is full of hot IT news and stale pr0n. In between there are always pearls that are too good for / dev / null.

Mask requirement digitally implemented As USA Today reports, visitors to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida noticed that the souvenir photos of individual attractions had been reworked so that each person had a mask in front of and nose. However, some of them were visibly added later, the people depicted had apparently pulled theirs down or put them down entirely. So far, Disney had enforced that none of the people depicted could buy a photo if only one or one without a mask can be recognized. The subsequent processing was apparently intended to mitigate the consequences of this provision, without those who refused to use a mask being able to interpret this as confirmation. At the same time, the waiting time for the photo has increased significantly.

After the first reports about the photo editing, Disney has now made it public declares that this practice has ceased. However, guests are still expected to wear face coverings unless they eat and drink – although they are only allowed to do so when they are not walking. It is unclear whether this means that everyone will be denied the souvenir photo again if an incorrigible or an incorrigible without a mask has joined them. Florida with its around 21 million inhabitants currently has 1.1 million confirmed cases of Covid – 19 and almost 20. 000 Dead – Germany with four times as many inhabitants for comparison has 1.3 million cases and 22. 000 Dead.
