Millions of users have trusted Xbox Game Pass , Microsoft’s on-demand service that allows its subscribers to access a huge library of games on console and PC.
With the recent integration of xCloud in the Ultimate plan, last September Game Pass also reached mobile players ( Android ), forced however to use a controller to interact c on most titles. The situation is set to improve with the extension of support for touch controls to others 10 games in the Xbox Game Pass catalog.
Xbox Game Pass on Android: here are the titles playable without a controller
In 22 countries where Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is available there are over 100 games accessible from Android devices. The first to welcome compatibility with touch commands was Minecraft Dungeons , a dungeon crawler that has proven to be able to adapt perfectly to the use of the touchscreen, both on smartphones and tablets.
Feedback from users has prompted Microsoft to extend this support to other Game Pass titles. Here are the 10 games that, from today, do not require the use of a controller on mobile:
- Dead Cells
- Gucamelee! 2
- Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
- Hotshot Racing
- Killer Instinct
- New Super Lucky’s Tale
- Slay The Spire
- Streets of Rage 4
- Tell Me Why
- UnderMine
There are still major absentees in the list released by the US giant, but Microsoft has already made its Touch Adaptation Kit available to allow developers to implement touch control support within their creations.
Curiously, the controls of some titles will change in some situations of the game, in order to adapt to certain scenarios and modes. In the case of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice , for example, we will find a series of controls for the exploration sections and a for fights; in Hotshot Racing it will instead be possible to accelerate using a special touch command, which will provide the same type of feedback that we would get with the analog triggers of the Xbox controller.
Among the other features introduced by the Touch Adaptation Kit there is the possibility to modify the icons of the virtual buttons , going far beyond the traditional Xbox ‘ABXY’ layout: there will be controls dedicated to jumping, dodging or using a certain skill.
As Microsoft explains, this is just “the first step” towards greater integration of the touch control system on Android. In the coming months new games from Xbox Game Pass will become compatible and, thanks to the developer kit, many of these will be third-party titles.
