YouTube rolled out its hashtag landing pages this week. Users can now search for videos using the hashtag. The landing pages based on this metadata marking are currently still a mixture of new and old videos with no recognizable order.

Hashtag Landing Pages Available Now Hashtags are popular on other social media such as Twitter and Instagram. Navigation and searches by hashtag are widely used on these platforms. Hashtags have been around on YouTube for some time. But they have been neglected there.

YouTube has now changed this. If a user clicks on a hashtag in the description of a video, they will be taken to a special landing page with videos that use this hashtag. This works on both PCs and mobile devices. Alternatively, you can also directly type in the corresponding URL in the form youtube.com/hashtag/suchbegriff.

Searching with a hashtag term should also be possible for information from the developer. However, this is not yet possible and currently only shows a search result without a hashtag. An update could add this feature later.

Alternative results with # The hashtag landing pages are after Sorts data from YouTube so that the best videos are shown first. However, this seems to be YouTube’s subjective view. The hashtag landing pages in their current form are just another form of search with different results.

#Intel is an example. The first seven results of a conventional search on YouTube for “Intel” are very current and were published in the last 24 hours. The landing page youtube.com/hashtag/intel, on the other hand, shows completely different videos. In this case, the first seven results are between three days and five months old.

However, this should change with the further spread of hashtags on the video platform and with adjustments to the YouTube hashtag algorithm. Nevertheless, the hashtag landing pages already offer a new form of search with partly interesting results and video that otherwise may not be found or not so quickly.
