Introduction

Founded in 2017, Zaunkoenig is a peripherals company based in Germany. Unlike most gaming mice on the market, the M2K is tailor-made for a single grip style: fingertip grip. With fingertip grip, only the fingers are used to control the mouse, and as the fingers tend be weaker than one’s wrist or arm, getting the weight as low as possible is imperative for a fingertip-grip mouse. To that end, the M2K does entirely without side buttons, a CPI button, or RGB, and instead employs an aerospace-grade carbon fiber shell in order to achieve the lowest weight of any fully-fledged gaming mouse thus far, which is 24 g. This record-low weight is further complemented by pure PTFE feet with rounded edges and a particularly flexible cable using Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) and very thin wires. Japanese-made and gold-plated Omron switches are used for the main buttons. Lastly, the M2K is capable of driverless 8000 Hz polling along with so-called latch debouncing, which adds no unneeded latency whatsoever. Through various button combinations, a wide range of on-board customization options is present, too. As the glossy version has been discontinued, the M2K is exclusively available with a sandblasted matte finish.
