Introduction

Reunited with my full testing setup and not operating out of a hotel room anymore, I realized I had a huge backlog of products to cover. Among these was a little something from a relatively new company called Zergotech. We got to know of the Aussie-based company first last year, when they shared news of their keyboard having won a couple of design awards, and I did want to get my own hands on it for a subjective review. So here we are finally, and thanks again to Zergotech for sending a review sample to TechPowerUp!

Zergotech claims to focus on “developing innovative ergonomic technologies,” which typically means a split keyboard. As seen above, the Zergotech Freedom is exactly that, but there is more the company wants you to know to better distinguish their keyboard from other such ergonomic, split keyboards. Indeed, they recognize that the biggest challenge is the steep learning curve for those going from a standard, staggered column, single-unit keyboard, and that many such keyboards adopt a fully orthogonal column layout with switches all over the place to fit them into the design scheme. In this review beginning with a look at the specifications in the table below, we will examine all this and their sliding palm rests which have won the keyboard those design awards.
