ZOTAC ZBOX Magnus One: Mini PC with fast desktop hardware

At the start of the digital CES 2021 ZOTAC has presented a new mini PC. The ZBOX Magnus One is the newest representative of the E-series and relies exclusively on components from the desktop of the high-end class for the processor and graphics card. Nevertheless, the system is extremely compact with an 8.3 liter housing.

The new ZOTAC ZBOX Magnus One ECM 73070 C only has dimensions of 265, 5 x 126 x 249 mm and only lifts around 5.1 kg on the scales. The total volume is a compact 8, 33 liters. While the ZBOX models of the E family have so far been based on a box shape like a game console, ZOTAC has opted for a real tower design for the Magnus One, which is heavily based on the MEK Mini. ZOTAC remains true to its current design line.

Despite the compact dimensions, there is definitely powerful hardware: An Intel Core i7 is at work inside – 10700 and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. Both components come from the desktop class and can therefore call up quite a bit of performance. A total of eight Comet Lake cores with a speed of up to 4.8 GHz and 5 are available. 888 FP 32 – shader units of the ampere architecture. This means that even the latest graphics crackers can be played in the highest settings and resolutions without any problems.

On the working and mass storage side, two SO-DIMM modules according to DDR4, accommodate an M.2 SSD and a 2.5-inch drive as well as Intel’s Optane storage. ZOTAC continues to rely on a barebone solution in which the user has to add the memory himself. To do this, the housing can be opened very easily with just two screws.

On the connectivity side, the new Mini-PC offers an HDMI 2.1 connection, three DisplayPorts 1.4a for up to four displays, four USB 3.1 Gen2 connections, four USB 3.0 ports, one of which is Type-C, as well as dual Ethernet with a 2.5 Gbit / s fast Killer-E 3000-Port. Wireless communication takes place via Bluetooth 5.0 and Killer WiFi 6. A card reader is also integrated in the housing. The system is supplied with power via an integrated 500 – W power supply with 80 Plus-Platinum certification.
