In the context of the exhibition entitled Andy Warhol è… Super Pop to be held in Turin from 24 October 2020 as of 31 January 2020, there will be a way for visitors to see two of the iconic Polaroid cameras used by the famous artist.

The brand experienced great difficulties in recent years with the change in the market but the idea and the concept of Polaroid not has never really faded (enough to be used in successful apps like Instagram). For art lovers it can therefore be a unique opportunity to see live not just any cameras, but those of Andy Warhol .

Andy Warhol used the Polaroid cameras to express his art both for the silk-screen paintings and for the part dedicated to commercial images (as in the case of the dedicated series with Absolut Vodka from 1986).

The artist used the camera Polaroid BIG SHOT for portrait using a lens 220 mm and using the single speed mechanical shutter and fixed focus. This model was used for example for the realization of the Red Books.

The second model is instead the Polaroid SX – 70 (produced by ’72 to 81 in the original version). Its design is certainly among the most recognizable and has received the honor of being visible also at the MOMA in New York. The possibility of being folded and therefore becoming very compact was a further distinctive feature.

Andy Warhol is… Super Pop is in the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge (Piazza Principe Amedeo 7, Stupinigi, Turin). All information is available on the official website of the exhibition with the possibility of booking tickets for visits.
