After years of anticipation, T-Mobile is finally getting into the live TV business with the launch of a new internet-based streaming service called TVision, launching on November 1st.
To be clear: TVision isn’t using the fiber-optic-based IPTV technology that it acquired alongside Layer3 back in 2017. It’s a traditional over-the-top streaming service that simply streams live television over the internet, just like YouTube TV, Hulu’s live TV service, Fubo TV, Sling TV, or (in perhaps the closest analogy) AT&T TV. But what sets TVision apart is its pricing, which aims to offer lower costs and more flexibility than its competitors.
To that end, TVision is broken up into a few different products. There’s the $40-per-month TVision Live, which offers the most traditional cable TV line. It’s focused largely on providing news and sports, including channels like ABC, NBC, and Fox (although notably, not CBS), news networks like CNBC, CNN, ABC News, and Fox News, along with sports-focused channels like FS1, FS2, ESPN, and NBC Sports. Additionally, TVision Live includes general cable fare like the Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, SyFy, TBS, TNT, USA, and Bravo.
There are also two additional tiers of TVision Live: the $50 Live TV Plus, which adds additional sports channels (including the Big Ten Network, ESPNU, NFL Network, and regional NBC sports channels), and the $60 Live Zone, which adds a few additional channels but whose main draw is NFL RedZone.
All three TVision Live plans also include a cloud-based DVR, which stores up to 100 hours of recordings (and, unlike some streaming services, those recordings are direct from the live TV feed — not on-demand content). TVision Live supports up to three concurrent streams, which means that you’ll be able to share an account with family members, too.
But TVision Live is just a part of TVision. There’s also TVision Vibe — which, at $10 per month for over 30 live channels from AMC, Discovery, and Viacom — might be the most interesting part of T-Mobile’s TV strategy. Channels here include AMC, BBC America, BET, Food Network, HGTV, the Hallmark Channel, MTV, TLC, Comedy Central, and Discovery.
There are a few more limitations here: TVision Vibe only supports up to two concurrent streams, and DVR access costs an extra $5 per month on top of the initial $10 subscription. But if you’re interested in the channels it offers, it’s among the cheapest live TV packages around.
Lastly, there’s TVision Channels, which offers standalone subscriptions to Starz ($8.99 per month), Showtime ($10.99 per month), and Epix ($5.99 per month).
T-Mobile’s TVision services can also be combined. For example, you can subscribe to both TVision Live for a basic set of channels and then add TVision Vibe on top for those additional entertainment-focused channels — just like regular cable.
Those prices certainly impressive, but other TV services, like Fubo or YouTube TV, have offered similarly low prices at their launches, too, only to raise prices considerably as content licensing costs have gone up. It’s not clear yet whether TVision’s various services will manage to avoid a similar fate in the future, despite T-Mobile’s usual rhetoric about offering a different sort of service than its competitors.
TVision will be available on a variety of platforms, including iOS, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire, and Google TV. (Notably absent on that list is Roku, which won’t be available, at least at launch, or any way to watch on a computer.) T-Mobile is also offering the $50 TVision Hub, a 4K Android TV dongle that’s been customized to offer a more integrated TVision experience.
To start, TVision will be available just to T-Mobile postpaid wireless customers starting on November 1st. Sprint customers will get access later in November, with the service opening up to all customers sometime in 2021.
Apple likes to shock. We all remember the historic premiere of the seventh generation iPhones, which started the trend of depriving devices of the mini-jack connector. Back then, hardly anyone considered this move logical, but as it turned out, the whole industry followed the American giant over time and today it is difficult to find a flagship with this old, but still spring connector (although it is worth noting that in the middle or lower shelf it is still it is popular). This year, Apple shocked again, because it announced that smartphones from the iPhone series 12 will be without a charger and headphones. This idea has already been criticized by many Internet users, but it is possible that you will have to get used to slimmed-down boxes, because Samsung wants to pick up on the idea.
If a decision is made to following in the footsteps of Apple, its effects can be seen at the premiere of the flagships of the Galaxy S series 21 (S 30). For now, however, we have a lot of conflicting information on this and we have to wait for the situation to develop.
Samsung Galaxy S 12 – the first smartphone renders are disappointing
According to reports from South Korea, the manufacturer of the Galaxy series smartphones is just considering the sense of continuing to offer a charger and headphones for the set If a decision is made to follow in Apple’s footsteps, its effects will be noticeable at the premiere of the flagship Galaxy S 21 (S 30), which will appear on the market just after the New Year. Then the only accessory in the box would probably only be a USB-C cable. We do not know if the decision would apply to the new flagships or all Korean smartphones.
iPhone 11, SE and XR from now on without a charger and headphones in the set
The case is even more exciting because recently Samsung officially criticized Apple’s decision by sharing graphics on social media emphasizing adding chargers to Galaxy smartphones. On the other hand, we have recently received information that the top model S 21 Ultra included a charger 25 W. As you can see, the matter is still unclear. However, we must remember that the Koreans used to make fun of the note on the iPhone X, and then they started making cutouts on the screens themselves. So everything is possible. We are waiting for the situation to develop.
Who does not know the story of the indestructible Internet that survived even a nuclear attack. It is not wrong, because the network was developed to be as fail-safe as possible.
Nevertheless, it happened to the day exactly 40 years to the big crash. At the 27. October 1980 the Internet forerunner Arpanet had to be switched off and restarted, for the first time after 11 Years of operation. The research network of the US Department of Defense was idle for four long hours because a technical defect had triggered a “Denial of Service” (DoS). 50 network nodes were affected by the failure.
In this section we always present astonishing, impressive, informative and funny figures from the fields of IT, science, art, business, politics and of course mathematics on Tuesdays.
The extreme requirements for survivability The on 29. Arpanet, launched in October 1969, handled the communication using special computers manufactured by Bolt, Beranek and Newman (BBN). These communication computers were called Interface Message Processors (IMP) when they connected host computers or Terminal Interface Message Processors (TIP) when only terminals were connected to them. For the transmission of data packets, these computers stored routing tables, which recorded how the host computers could be reached via which IMPs.
The routing of the data packets was carried out according to the principle of hot potato routing, which Paul Baran wrote in the year 1960 in his text “Reliable Digital Communication Systems Using Unrealiable Repeater Nodes. ”With this hot potato routing, the data packets were transmitted to the next node, determined from the response times of the individual nodes Network node the traffic could be rerouted immediately.
With regard to his idea, Baran noted that such a flexible network of connected computers is reasonably fail-safe against an enemy attack: “But a real-life system is a collection of compromises, and this system is no exception. The author believes, though, that it represents an acceptable price to have to pay for a national communication system able to meet the extreme demands of survivability in the face of a determined enemy. ” ( “But in real life a system is a collection of compromises and this is no exception. However, the author believes that it is an acceptable price to be paid for a national communication system that has to meet the extreme demands of survivability in the face of a determined enemy. “)
Restart of all communication computers required On 27 October the network failed. This was first noticed at the IMP 50, who sent a faulty routing table to other IMPs, which saved it and then failed for their part without forwarding the table Try single I. Restarting MPs failed because the actual error was initially not recognized: IMP 29 had a hardware -Defect that caused a bit to “slip”, as BBN engineer Eric C. Rosen wrote in his detailed analysis of the incident. As a result, the routing table contained incorrect entries for the most recent saved data of the available nodes. The solution to this resulting “Denial of Service” was to restart all communication computers and repair IMP 29 had to. After four hours, the Arpanet was able to resume operations. For Rosen it was “endless minutes” during which there was hectic phone calls, as the BBN company chronicle says.
With version 6.0, the Super Productivity project updates its free software for task management. The most important innovation is the synchronization of data via WebDAV. The protocol is responsible for the exchange of files and directories over the Internet. So far, only Google Drive and Dropbox were available for this. With WebDAV, the user is independent of commercial providers and still does not have to open any additional ports on his firewall.
In addition, the task list project has a new design lost. You can also set up your own background images. There are also many other changes and bug fixes that interested readers can find in the changelog on GitHub. Instructions from the developer for practical use of the tool are available on dev.to.
Everything done … Super Productivity manages tasks of the user, but also records the time spent with them. Functions such as a Pomodoro timer are also included. It is a completely free project under the MIT license, there is explicitly no cloud connection or account requirements.
If desired, Jira, GitLab and GitHub can be integrated, the tool imports assigned tasks and then informs automatically
Microsoft’s developers have closed several security holes in the Edge web browser.
Anyone who surfs the Internet with Microsoft’s Edge web browser should quickly bring the browser up to date, as attackers are currently actively exploiting a security gap. The developers have closed five holes in total.
The exploited vulnerability (CVE- 2020 – 15999) relates to the FreeType program library. Much information about the vulnerability is currently not known. Attackers should be able to trigger memory errors. This usually leads to a DoS state, which causes an application to crash. However, the execution of malicious code is often also conceivable. The threat level is ” high “, writes Microsoft in the security center for Edge.
This also applies to three other gaps. The fifth vulnerability (CVE – 2020 – 16003) is classified with ” medium “. This can lead to a memory error when printing (use after free).
Edge and Chrome are both based on Chromium. On Edge the output is 86. 0. 622. 51 secured. The fixed Chrome issue 86. 0. 4240. 111 has already appeared.
(Pocket-lint) – There’s no denying that virtual reality gaming is a whole world of fun. There also aren’t many VR experiences better than those available on the HTC Vive, Vive Cosmos and Vive Pro.
The HTC Vive, whichever model you have, is an impressive bit of kit, for sure. That’s not to say, though, that it’s impossible to improve it with some judiciously picked upgrades, attachments and accessories.

Leap Motion hand tracking
Advanced hand and finger tracking for VR
Fast-accuracy, low-latency VR control
Replaces conventional controllers
squirrel_widget_187814
The Leap Motion tracking device was launched a few years back and promised Minority Report style control of our computers where we’d be able to wave our hands around to control what we were seeing and interact with software interfaces. The technology has not fully blossomed just yet, but we’re always excited to see it progressing.
Now that same motion tracking technology is being put to use in another developing area of technology – Virtual Reality. By attaching a Leap Motion device to the front of an HTC Vive, you can ditch your VR controllers and immerse yourself in a VR world where your hands work the magic. At least, that’s the promise.
The Leap Motion controller is one of the easiest things to install on your HTC Vive. Simply stick a dock on the front of your headset, pop the Leap Motion controller in and plug it into a spare USB port on your PC using a lengthy extension cable and you’re away. Of course, there’s some necessary software to download and install, but the setup is otherwise a total breeze.
From there you’re then able to try out a variety of different experiences available to download for free from the company’s website.
Our favourites of these current experiences are almost certainly Cat Explorer and Blocks. Cat Explorer lets you poke and prod the innards of a furry feline, with the ability to see inside and strip back layers to see its bones, vital organs and more. A brilliant little tech demo that shows the potential educational uses VR could have in the near future.
Blocks, meanwhile, is a simple demo of what’s possible with your hands. Creating objects of varying sizes out of thin air with your bare hands is pretty thrilling. We also liked being able to manipulate gravity – tossing objects we’d created into the atmosphere only to turn gravity back on to make them crash back down to the floor with a thump.
Pocket-lint
Of course, these are all just tech demos at this point. They’re certainly worth playing around with and a lot of fun to do so too, but they’re not full games just yet. That said, you can certainly see the potential of this tech and what would happen if VR headset manufacturers started to build the tracking right into the headsets themselves.
For now, the Leap Motion controller-free VR experience relies on developers to make it a reality. There are a number of games and experiences currently available:
Gravity Sketch VR
Wave Magic VR
Bigscreen Beta
And some enthusiasts have even managed to tweak other games to introduce support like putting clickable buttons in the cockpit of a WW2 plane in IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad. As interest gathers we expect to see this list to grow alongside the expanding catalogue of experiences available from Leap Motion itself.
If you’re interested in trying controller-free VR and want to see what it will be like to be able to use your hands freely in virtual reality, then the Leap Motion controller is well worth purchasing. It’s also one of the most affordable HTC Vive accessories available at the moment.

Deluxe Audio Strap
Integrated audio
Improve comfort
Easy-to-use size adjustment dial
squirrel_widget_187815
One of the frustrations with the standard Vive is the need to use your own earphones or headset. We had problems finding a suitable USB powered headset and using the 3.5mm jack meant messing with more cables.
The standard out-of-the-box Vive is also a bit of a fuss to put on and take off. The triple Velcro strap system is great for adjustment, but it’s a bit of a faff.
1/17Pocket-lint
If you’ve felt the misery of these hassles, then the Deluxe Audio Strap is the upgrade for you. This accessory replaces the standard straps and integrates audio right into the headset design.
This has several benefits – firstly the headset fitment is a lot more comfortable; padding and plastic housing allows for improved weight distribution and less pressure on the nogging while you game.
The improved head strap also makes the headset a lot easier to use with a comfort adjustment wheel on the back replacing the three strap system. A simple twist of this dial loosens or tightens the headset to quickly achieve a comfortable fit or make it wide enough to slip off in a flash.
The next highlight is the integrated audio. Simple flip-down ear cups sit on the ear while you game and can be easily moved out of the way should you need to hear something happening in the real world at any point. These integrated earphones mean you don’t need to use your own. The design also means less cables in the way when you game, which is always a bonus.
This accessory not only improves the audio experience of the HTC Vive, but the comfort too. We found this meant better immersion during gaming sessions and far less face pressure, both of which are welcome additions to an already awesome system.

TPCAST Wireless VR adapter
Wireless VR upgrade for HTC Vive
20,100mAh battery pack powered wireless VR
Easy installation
squirrel_widget_175762
The HTC Vive might be one of the best VR experiences around, but it still needs a great gaming machine to run and you need to be tethered to that machine while you play too. This can really ruin the experience when you get tied up in the cables as you play, especially in the more frantic games or just plain annoying when you feel it tugging on the back of your head constantly.
This is where the TPCAST wireless adapter comes in. This is a wireless upgrade for your HTC Vive which allows you to ditch those restrictive cables in favour of wireless transmitters and receivers, as well as a hot-swappable battery pack that’s capable of as much as five hours gaming before it needs recharging.
HTC Vive wireless: How to upgrade your VR headset and ditch those cables
TPCAST is an aftermarket upgrade to the HTC Vive that’s certainly worth considering. It’s not cheap, but it is impressive.
1/4Pocket-lint
We found this wireless adapter yielded some fairly impressive results, with very little in the way of noticeable lag or frame rate drops while we played. It’s not without its foibles – there’s no official microphone support at the moment and it can be frustrating when the battery runs out of juice mid-play sessions (especially considering it takes around ten hours to fully recharge). But it is a brilliant bit of kit that works really well.
We can’t tell you enough how fantastic wireless VR gaming is. There’s nothing like the freedom to move around without tripping over cables or feeling the constant nag of the tethered cables.
The downside is being painfully aware of gaming borders and not knocking over precious household objects while we play.

HTC Vive official wireless adapter
Uses Intel’s WiGig wireless technology
Requires a PCI-e card installed in your machine
Works with both HTC Vive and HTC Vive Pro
Supports 6m x 6m (20ft x 20ft) play area
Up to 2.5 hours battery life from a 5700mAh battery pack
squirrel_widget_145456
As an alternative to the TPCAST Adapter, you also now have the choice of purchasing the official HTC Vive wireless adapter. This device works in a similar way but delivers slightly better (and more officially supported) results.
This system works with both HTC Vive and HTC Vive Pro – requiring a separate purchase for each. Which makes it an option for Vive Pro owners who couldn’t access wireless until this point.
Using Intel’s WiGig technology, the official wireless adapter swaps your link box for a wireless receiver/transmitter that sits on top of your head while you play. You no longer need to worry about plugging anything into your graphics card or indeed connecting your Vive to your gaming machine via any wires.
The system handles everything thanks to the PCI-e adapter installed in your machine. This does mean you need to be technically savvy in order to install and use this option and it won’t work with laptops, but it does allow for some pretty brilliant VR gaming without the bore of wires.

HTC Vive Wireless Adapter review: VR cord cutting at its best
You can’t get quite as much playtime out of this adapter compared to the TPCAST as the battery pack is a lot smaller, but we did find it to be highly capable, easy to use and really easy to pair during testing.

Prescription lens adapters
Easy-to-install lens adapters
Prescription lenses for glasses-free VR gaming
BlueGuard coating to block out those nasty rays while you play
If you’re a glasses wearer then you know the frustrations that come with trying to wear a VR headset over your prescription frames. It’s not only uncomfortable, but it also often leads to double the problems with smudges, smearing and steaming up.
The good news is it doesn’t have to be this way. It is possible to upgrade your HTC Vive and add prescription lens adapters so you can game without your glasses.
These adapters are a great addition to your headset. They not only allow you to play without your specs, but they also offer some protection to the lenses themselves. If you scratch the standard lenses, they’re not easy to replace, so it’s worth keeping them safe and the adapters will stop you accidentally scratching them with your standard specs.
Pocket-lint
There are a few different sources for prescription lenses for the various VR headsets out there. We’d recommend VR Lens Lab. This company not only offers prescription lens adapters but also offer additional extras like Blueguard coating that protects your eyes from blue light radiation while you play.
Of course, the lenses cost as much as your standard prescription lenses, so prices will vary according to how bad your eyes are, but in our mind, it’s a worthy upgrade for comfortable, immersive VR gaming.

3dRudder motion controller
Foot controlled movement
Multi-game and device compatible
squirrel_widget_187836
We’re big proponents of Room-Scale VR gaming. It’s so much more immersive when you can walk about in the VR world, by moving about in the real one. The problem with this though is it soon gets tiring. We’ve often found our gaming session cut short due to sore feet or an aching back.
3dRudder offers an interesting solution to this problem by allowing you to control your in-game movement with your feet while remaining seated.
Rest your feet on this motion controller and you can simply dip, twist or turn your feet in order to move your character about in the VR game. With simple movements,11 you can walk, run, strafe or simply move about with ease.
The underside of the 3dRudder is slightly curved allowing you to easily rock it in any direction. It does mean that you cannot use this device standing up though, as you’ll not only break it but likely fall flat on your face too.
This accessory is an interesting premise. Built-in pressure sensors accurately track movement and relay that information into the game. It can even detect when you press down or lift your feet up and this can be used to move vertically too. This opens up use in flight sims too and any game that requires a joystick.
Of course, many modern VR games offer controller-based movement controls via the trackpad or control sticks, but using a foot controller frees up your hands for the important/interesting things – like shooting, looting and engaging with the world.
We also found that 3dRudder helped maintain immersion while playing as controlling movement with your feet just lends itself naturally to VR gaming, even if you aren’t actually walking in the normal sense.
With fast-paced games where quick movement is key to survival, we also found 3dRudder made us much agiler than trying to move about with the standard movement controls.
3dRudder is versatile too. It’s not only compatible with a variety of VR games out of the box, it’s also possible to use the controller in a variety of ways including keyboard mode, mouse mode, joystick mode and more. This means its possible to use it to control all games, not just VR ones, but also as a giant mouse to browse the internet if you feel so inclined.
All the settings are fully customisable with the accompanying software, so it’s a breeze to set it up just the way you want.
3dRudder connects to your gaming machine using a plug-and-play USB cable. Your PC should immediately recognise it as a joystick, but the software allows you to tweak the settings to your particular liking and the games you’re playing too.
3dRudder is remarkably intuitive and easy to pick up and use. It’s also not limited to VR use, so when you’re not gaming inside your Vive you can put it to good use elsewhere too.

Hyperkin Protection Case
squirrel_widget_175761
We’re big VR fans, and the Vive is a stellar system, but it’s fair to say that we don’t necessarily use it multiple times a day, every day. It can eat up your space and get in the way if you have it set up at all times. A protective case for when you’re not using it is a must, therefore, to make sure that you don’t end up accidentally breaking one its components and wasting your money.
This case from Hyperkin can fit your headset, controllers and sensors all in one bag, and isn’t too bulky or brash as a bonus. It’s a smart investment for any Vive owner.

Vive Tracker
squirrel_widget_187847
The HTC Vive seems to be getting more modular all the time, with additional elements that you can add on to your system to unlock new features and options. One such addition can be the Vive Tracker. This nifty little gizmo can attach to anything you like to make that object, limb or item trackable in VR as you move it around.
We’ll be updating this list in future with even more accessories for your Vive, so be sure to check back to keep in the loop.

The number of generic top level domains (gTLD) used for phishing and malware declined in the past year, according to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). According to David Conrad, CTO of private network administration, only spam increased strongly. Trademark owners and the security consulting company Interisle stubbornly questioned Conrad’s findings at the ICANN meeting. In view of the dispute over who has the better numbers, there is now a call for a data summit on the subject of “abuse”.
Conrad reported at the purely virtual ICANN meeting of a decrease in the number of gTLDs involved in phishing attacks within one year of 11244 (- 13, 4 percent) and the domains responsible for botnets around 5885 (- 14, 13 percent). In the case of phishing, it even recorded a decrease of 25, 41 percent. Only the usual increase in spam by 19 percent, again measured by the number of gTLDs involved, spoils them From the point of view of the network administrator, positive results. Overall, this results in a share of fraudulent domains that has increased by 0 percent the previous year.
Covid 19 – domain names The trend curves presented by Conrad from the Domain Abuse Activity Project (DAAR) for 2020 leave with a brief clear drop in the Abuse figures almost suggest that phishers and spammers were either impressed or affected by the pandemic. Even with pandemic-related attacks, Conrad drew a less suspicious headline picture than was rumored in the past few months.
Around 1.7 percent of the, however, abundant registered Covid 19 – related domain names (134. 332 between May and September 2020) classified the ICANN technician team as secure malicious. From 170 abuse domains, because of which ICANN asked for help between June and September, domain registries and registrars were only active on November 6th .
Wrongly defined or calculated? Conrad’s presentation came across at the meanwhile fourth ICANN General Assembly on the subject of DNS Abuse on a lot of contradiction. Lori Schulman, an attorney at the International Trade Mark Association, commented on the numbers, saying that members of their organization clearly reported an increase in abuses.
Chris Lewis-Evans of the UK National Crime Agency led On the one hand, statistics from the US-American FBI, which had received around 85 complaints about “Internet crimes” and the damage caused to 3.5 billion daily Dollars appreciated. On the other hand, statistics from British law enforcement officers 41 percent of all fraud cases are somehow digital, said Lewis-Evans, but had to admit that This includes more than DNS-related fraud scenarios.
At the ICANN meeting, representatives of the security consulting company Interisle finally appeared as key witnesses for the strong growth in phishing domains. In a study whose client did not want to name Interisle at all, they lead 298. 012 Phishing reports and 122. 092 Phishing attacks between May and July 2020. All in all 99. 412 domains were involved, According to Interisles figures, around two thirds were registered directly by phishers, i.e. not hijacked. This means that ICANN needs to act.
Apples and pears The different assessments of the situation and the The partly contradicting figures of the protagonists stem from the fact that different things are measured differently, explains Theo Geurts, compliance expert at the Dutch domain backend provider Realtime Register.
The DAAR project of ICANN values long-term 11 Blocklists from, since 2018, While Interisle only has two for the short period of three months. “I think predictions based on a three-month study are difficult,” he says. In addition, ICANN is concentrating on the gTLDs, as these are contractually bound to name management. Interisle, on the other hand, also takes into account country domains over which ICANN has no influence and which are in part a real reservoir for fraudulent activities, such as the .tk zone.
Realtime Register’s own domain abuse statistics for the Geurts uses 30 blocklists and pulsedive for evaluation, confirmed the ICANN observations. “We see a decrease in the abuse of domains in the last few years,” said the Dutchman. That doesn’t mean that there is less fraud taking place, but the fraudsters rely less on domains. For example, P2P botnets and I
AVM took its time with the first Wi-Fi 6-capable Fritzbox for xDSL Internet connections: the model 6660 for cable Internet was already beginning 2020. Now the Fritzbox 7530 AX follows. On the WLAN side in the 5 GHz band with three instead of two MIMO streams, it is even somewhat better equipped than the first version of the Wi-Fi 6.
This is how the 7530 AX manages the usual 80 MHz channel width on the radio interface a gross data rate of up to 1800 Mbit / s (6660: 1200 Mbit / s). Unlike its predecessor, the device does not support the use of an extra-wide 160 MHz channel for double the gross rate. In the 2.4 GHz band, the new box with Wi-Fi 6 technology and two MIMO streams like the 6660 has a maximum of 600 Mbit / s.
Supervectoring-VDSL On the internet side, the new Fritzbox Supervectoring-VDSL understands up to 300 Mbit / s in the downstream (profile 35 b), it is transported in the opposite direction at most 50 Mbit / s. It should be possible to use these data rates with modern WLAN clients (Wi-Fi 5 and 6) even through one or two walls without loss – as long as not too many neighboring WLANs are active on the radio bands at the same time. Furthermore, the 7530 brings four Gigabit Ethernet ports for the home network, a TAE / ab port for an analog telephone and a DECT -Base for up to six cordless phones with. A USB port can be used to connect mass storage devices or printers to share them in the (W) LAN. The Fritzbox 7530 AX should come on the market in November, be equipped with the current FritzOS 7.2x and 169 cost euros.
Under the motto “Teaching easier with understandable projects”, Make is launching a new offer aimed at teachers of MINT subjects. On our new website “Make Education” we are now making 5 free PDF articles available for download every month. The PDFs are selected articles from previous Make editions and contain projects that can be thematically well integrated into STEM lessons or in projects or project weeks.

When the pandemic broke out, parents had to try quickly to get enough computers to teach their children online. Even if they did, the next big challenge was to give multiple people many hours of online access.
Jessica Rosenworcel, one of five commissioners at the US communications agency Federal Communications Commission (FCC), had long warned of Covid – 19 of a “homework gap”. This is the problem confronting communities in which children have no internet access due to a lack of infrastructure, because their families cannot afford it or for both reasons.
The current one The FCC broadband standard includes a download speed of at least 25 megabits per second. In rural areas, where a study by the Pew Research Center estimates a third of Americans do not have broadband access, these speeds are unknown. For further Pew data, which certifies access to broadband for around three quarters of urban and suburban households, you have to know: In the current FCC cards, the area of a zip code is considered to be well supplied with broadband if a single household has access .
In light of these issues, Rosenworcel is passionate about the FCC updating the so-called E-rate program: a 1996 established federal educational technology service, schools and Libraries offers discounted internet access. Technology Review spoke to her about her plans to use the program to bridge the homework gap.
Technology Review: How did you get on the term ” Homework gap “come?
Jessica Rosenworcel: When I was the When I joined FCC, I decided to go to e-rate-beneficiary schools. No matter where I went, urban or rural America, big cities or small towns, I heard the same things from teachers and administrators: “The E-Rate program is great. We now have these devices that we can use in all classrooms But when our students go home in the evening, not all of them have reliable internet access. ”
Children sat in the school parking lot with school laptops that were borrowed until late in the evening and tried to do their homework because this was the only place they could get online. Or they would do their homework in fast food restaurants with a helping of french fries.
Seven out of ten teachers do homework that requires internet access. However, the FCC data consistently shows that one in three households does not have broadband. I started calling this overlap “homework divide” because that part of the digital divide needed its own label.
And then came the pandemic, right? We sent tens of millions of children home and told them to take online classes. But the data suggests 17 millions of them don’t make it there. This turns this homework gap into an educational gap, and I’m concerned that if we don’t correct it, it will turn into a long-term gap in opportunities.
Why does in digital inequality in the US?
Our geographical differences have wonderful effects, but also consequences. It takes some work to make sure everyone is connected. But we’ve already done it once: with electricity according to the rural electrification law and with simple telephony. We can do it with broadband too.
At the beginning of the pandemic, many immigrant families and people without internet access were told they could get discounted data rates. But that was difficult in terms of papers and costs. How did the FCC address this issue?
I can be loud and relentless, but I can’t always convince my colleagues. I am convinced that we can update the E-Rate program using existing laws and support schools, for example by lending out WiFi hotspots. Because we don’t, images like that of two girls sitting outside a Taco Bell store in Salinas, California, go viral. Not to have lunch, but because of the free WiFi signal. Students sit in hot cars to attend classes and do homework. Shame on the FCC for not making updating E-Rate a priority to tackle this crisis.
Which kids hit the homework gap strongest?
It has a disproportionately large influence on communities of color, is disproportionate
It seems that Microsoft has come up with a way to migrate Internet Explorer users to Microsoft Edge once and for all, and as we can read in ZDNet, a total of 1156 web domains will cause Microsoft Edge to open to open the website, at the same time that Internet Explorer explains this behavior.
Microsoft has been testing this feature with some users from Edge 84 , released this summer, but finally on Edge 87, which is expected next month, this behavior will reach all users, so plans to retire Internet Explorer continue.
Its operation is relatively simple, as a DLL file called ie_to_edge_bho.dll is in charge of seeing which web pages a user accesses and compare them with a database of websites incompatible with Internet Explorer , something that will cause the navigation to continue in Edge.
Being a rather intrusive behavior, Microsoft will provide group policies for some of its clients to be able to disable this behavior , or at least have some control over its operation, as there may be cases in which this functionality is more problematic than anything else.

After the PS5 Spider-Man edition, Giuseppe Spinelli went back to the drawing board to now present a 2D design of a PS5 skin dedicated to The Punisher.
Two weeks ago LetsGoDigital showed a spectacular video animation made by Giuseppe Spinelli, aka Snoreyn, of a self-designed PlayStation 5 Spider-Man Miles Morales Limited Edition. His design hit like a bomb, his video became a big hit on YouTube with over 2 million views. In the meantime, Sony has officially announced that the PS5 will indeed be provided with detachable cover plates, so you can provide your console with a different skin or cover.
The Spider-Man Edition designed by Giuseppe had a 3D design. To realize such a skin, a 3D printer will be needed. But how would such a custom-made PS5 skin look like with a 2D design? This time the Italian graphic designer has gone to work with his favorite Marvel character: The Punisher.
Driven by the brutal murder of his family, Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, is a cruel law enforcement officer who goes beyond the law to crack down on criminals to stand up for the goodness of mankind. A fun fact; The Punishers made its debut in The Amazing Spider-Man in 1974.
The Punisher skin for PS5
Only one major video game has come out around The Punisher, for the Sony PS2. That game was developed by Volition (also known from Red Faction and Saints Row) and published by the Austrian ThQ (Toy Head-Quarters), in close collaboration with Marvel. By the way, this was not a PlayStation Exclusive, as the game also appeared for the Xbox and PC. Afterwards, computer game publisher ThQ went bankrupt and was taken over by Nordic Games, which has since been operating under the name ThQ Nordic.
For the PS3, a multi-player only game also announced, called ‘The Punisher: No Mercy’, but that game was significantly less successful. Yet the character seems to be extremely suitable to build a game on. So why not develop an all-new The Punisher game for PS5? Giuseppe has already designed an original and impressive PS5 skin, starring this popular Marvel character.
It goes without saying that Giuseppe has also incorporated the characteristic skull – the symbol of The Punisher – in his design. This revolting skull was designed by Giuseppe himself and, in combination with the black console, provides an extra bloody and repellent effect. As we have come to expect from the Italian designer, the DualSense controller has also been given a beautiful matching design.
Apart from many comic books and various films around The Punisher, two Netflix series of this Marvel character have also appeared over the years. The first series was launched in 2017, at the time Giuseppe was already able to show his incredible designer talent. Giuseppe made a huge fan poster for the first season of the Netflix TV show. This poster went viral on the internet. Even some actors, including Ben Barnes and Deborah Ann Woll, believed it was an official Netflix / Marvel poster and began retweeting Giuseppe’s Tweet.
Interchangeable cover plates for the PlayStation 5
Since the PS2, Sony has always brought a black console to the market, this time however the Japanese manufacturer opted for a white game console. Some are very enthusiastic about the new design, but there are also a considerable number of gamers that would have preferred a different color scheme.
For them it is therefore a godsend that the cover of the PS5 is interchangeable. It is expected that many types of PS5 skins, covers and stickers will be released in the coming period, in order to give your console a personal touch. From cheap stickers to expensive 3D printed covers, in the coming years you will see all kinds of models and variations online.
It is the first time that Sony will release a PlayStation with interchangeable covers. Earlier, the Japanese concern already announced that the updated design of the PS5 is intended to better match the modern living room. By giving your console its own design, this feeling will be enhanced and you can transform your game console into a real showpiece in your living room.
Since it will probably take another 7 years before a PlayStation 6 or something similar appears, it is nice to be able to change the cover design in the meantime. The idea of personal, customizable characteristics is also really something of our time. Nowadays we can organize everything according to our own interpretation and wishes on our smartphone, tablet, PC and other electronics devices.
Sony has not yet announced any official PS5 skins, possibly the manufacturer may choose to coincide with the release of new games. Sony did show the user interface of the PlayStation 5 for the first time last week. In addition to the Home Screen menu, the Control Center will be an important addition, to offer gamers additional control options during gaming and at the same time to stay connected with the online gaming community.

Malware developers have apparently again succeeded in smuggling their software through Apple’s notarization service: For the second time in around six weeks, Apple has accidentally authenticated an adware targeting macOS, according to a manufacturer of antivirus tools. The malware called OSX / MacOffers was discovered by a security researcher during an analysis of cracked software – “in the wild”. Adware manipulates browser search engine MacOffers is supposed to change the search engine in the user’s browser and was disguised as an alleged installer of Adobe Flash – like practically all adware circulating on a large scale for macOS. Intego writes that Apple withdrew the certificate used by the malware provider after a short time. Fraudsters usually hardly care, they then fall back on a different developer ID.
The adware used steganography and hid a .zip file with the malware in a JPEG – that’s probably why it is has also been certified by Apple’s notarization service.
Thanks to Apple notarization, software – or in this case malware – can be easily opened, even on Macs with the current version Version 10. 15 Catalina and macOS 11 Big Sur. Before the start, a dialog indicates that the software has been downloaded from the Internet. “Apple has checked them for malware and found none,” it says.
Notarization promises malware check Apple’s notarization service is actually supposed to secure the direct sales of Mac software outside of the Mac App Store. Developers have to send their apps signed with a developer certificate to Apple for authentication, which is now mandatory for signed software.
The notarization should be automated and quick, emphasized the manufacturer. It is k
According to a study, the television set has become somewhat more important again in German households during the Corona times. “58 Percentage of people from 14 years in Germany name the TV screen as the most important device for video use. This corresponds to over one percentage point more than in the previous year, which has stopped the downward trend of recent years, “said the media authorities’ new video digitization report published on Monday. 2016 the value was still good 66 percent, 2018 at 63 percent, 2019 at almost 57 percent. The authors emphasize, however, that the return to the big screen must be viewed against the background of the special situation this year. “It remains to be seen whether the trend back to television sets will continue in the future.”
Classic TV is on the rise again In Corona -Times, the daily use of classic TV programs – this means the broadcasters’ ongoing programming – has increased again after years, as the representative survey further shows. 69 percent watched linear television every day. 2019 it was still 64 percent and in the year before 66 Percentage.
The increase in video usage on the Internet is significantly greater: almost 42 percent now view moving images on the internet every day. 2019 it was 14 percent and 2016 still 8 percent, as the study lists.
Netflix leads when streaming When using Streaming services led Netflix in the surveys. About one third (32 percent) of the population from 14 years in Germany watches Netflix content at least once a month. Behind are the platforms Amazon Prime Video with a good 22 percent and Disney + with more than 11 Percent.
