Corsair unveiled three new houses – 5000 D, 5000 D Airflow and iCUE 5000 X RGB – for those who love the design of the series models 4000 but needs more space, both for high-end hardware and for mounting a custom liquid system.

Corsair has expanded the offering by mid-tower ATX case with new series 5000 , composed of three models that take the name of Corsair 5000 D, 5000 D Airflow and iCUE 5000 X RGB . This is a larger range than the series 4000 (here the review of the iCUE 4000 X RGB), in fact it passes from 453 x 230 x 466 mm a 520 x 245 x 520 mm in order to accommodate larger hardware but also custom liquid systems . The design, on the other hand, is the same, with a different front depending on the model.
All Corsair series cases 5000 are made of steel, tempered glass plastic, have seven slots for additional cards to which are added two slots for the mounting a card vertically . In terms of storage space, two 3.5-inch, four 2.5-inch drives can be mounted , video cards up to 420 mm long and CPU coolers up to 170 mm.
The houses can accommodate up to two radiators of 360 mm, a maximum of 10 fans from 120 mm or 4 of 140 mm and ATX power supplies with a length up to 225 mm. All homes share the new RapidRoute cable management system, which allows you to create an elegant and orderly, and route the main cables through a large hidden opening for optimal connection to the motherboard. The houses also boast 25 mm of space behind the motherboard to hide the cables from view, a removable compartment to cover the power supply, numerous cable glands and a dedicated vertical cable routing channel.
versions 5000 D and 5000 D AIRFLOW are equipped with two fans from 25 mm with Corsair AirGuide technology, while the 5000 X RGB model raises the bar with three SP fans 120 RGB ELITE AirGuide included in supplied, each of which includes eight individually adjustable RGB LEDs that can be managed via the included iCUE Lighting Node CORE controller and CORSAIR iCUE software.

It looks like Intel will finally introduce memory overclocking support on non-Z motherboards, starting with the 500-series. By enabling memory overclocking support, systems equipped with H570 or B560 motherboards will allow memory modules to operate above their official specifications for increased performance.
Unlike AMD, which offers overclocking support on almost all of its chipsets, Intel has, up until now, been locking memory overclocking behind its “Z” chipsets. Now it seems Intel has finally changed this position and will introduce memory overclocking to its mid-tier motherboards.
With the Comet Lake-S platform, the Intel Core i9 and i7 CPUs supported DDR4-2933 memory, but the i5, i3, and Pentium chips could only be paired with up to DDR4-2666 memory. Due to the lack of memory overclocking, H470 and B460 motherboards would only run memory at a maximum of DDR4-2933. As per @momomo_us‘ post (via Tom’s Hardware), the Rocket Lake-S platform is expected to be arranged differently from Comet Lake-S, with the Core i9, i7, and i5 supporting up to DDR4-3200, while the Core-i3 and Pentium processors would be maxed at DDR4-2666.
The fact that different maximum supported memory speeds depends on the processor families, might be a sign that the 11th Gen Core processors lineup consists of Rocket Lake-S processors and refresh Comet Lake-S processors. The CPUs supporting up to DDR4-3200 would be Rocket Lake-S processors (Core i9 to i5), while the CPUs featuring a maximum memory speed of DDR4-2666 could be the refreshed Comet Lake-S parts.
Given that users will need at least a Core i5 processor to run DDR4-3200 memory, it is expected that H570 and B560 motherboards will only be capable of memory overclocking when paired with Core i9/i7/i5 CPUs.

Gigabyte has introduced a new PCIe 4.0 SSD to its storage portfolio. The Aorus Gen4 7000s SSD will be available with capacities of 1TB and 2TB, featuring an M.2 2280 form factor and two different heatsinks to choose from.
Featuring a 2nd generation PCIe 4.0×4 Phison PS5018-E18 controller based on the 12nm process node, 1GB of DDR4 SLC caching, and 3D TLC NAND flash operating at 1200MT/s, the Aorus Gen4 7000s SSD reaches maximum sequential read and write speeds of 7000MBs and 6850MB/s respectively. Random reads are rated up to 700K IOPS, and up to 650K IOPS for random writes.
The standard option uses a double-sided aluminium heatsink with Nanocarbon coating that intelligently uses the clearance area between the motherboard slots to maximise its surface area. To further increase the cooling capacity, the 7000s SSD also comes equipped with high conductivity thermal pads. However, if you want absolute maximum performance from your drive, Gigabyte also created a “more extreme thermal solution” with integrated heatpipes, a higher double-sided heat spreader with Nanocarbon coating, and high conductivity pads.
The Aorus Gen4 7000s SSD supports Gigabyte’s SSD Tool Box software, which allows users to monitor their SSD health and temperatures, as well as check the model name and firmware version of the SSD. Users can format the SSD through the app using Secure Erase Function. Additionally, the 7000s SSD also support TRIM, S.M.A.R.T. and AES-256 encryption and features wear levelling and over-provision technologies to ensure its reliable operation.
Gigabyte hasn’t revealed pricing and availability of the Aorus Gen4 7000s SSD yet, but we know that it will be backed by a 5-year warranty. You can learn more about this SSD HERE.

It’s no secret that Intel’s 11th Generation Rocket Lake-S CPUs are nearing. Intel has yet to announce exact specs, pricing or even as much as a launch date. However, the vendor did dish out a load of juicy technical details on the Core i9-11900K flagship earlier this week for CES. CES also brought an onslaught of Z590 and B560 motherboard announcements for the new chips, which indicates that a launch date is nearing.
With that in mind, Noctua has started prepping its compatibility list for which coolers work on which boards. And it’s already made good progress. Thus far, the list comprises over 30 Z590 boards and 11 B560 planks. The list is far from complete, but many of the most popular options are already accounted for.
Remember that this is a tedious process, as Noctua has a ton of coolers in its arsenal. It also tests discontinued models for a total of 55 coolers. So to already have this information at our disposal ahead of launch is nothing short of impressive.
You can find Noctua’s Z590 compatibility list here and the B560 list is here. If a cooler is incompatible, you’ll see a red cross with your motherboard and cooler combo and the reasoning why. But if it does fit, you’ll see a big green checkmark.
That said, some coolers require upgrades to their SecuFirm mounting kits to fit on the LGA1200 CPU socket. But Noctua almost always provides these free of charge, including for discontinued coolers (assuming you have proof of purchase).

MSI was not content with the introduction of Z 590 motherboards, but unveiled everything at once 500 series motherboard. The flagship model MEG Z 590 Godlike is equipped with, among other things 10 with a gigabit SuperLAN network controller and Stacked Fin Array and Frozr Heatsink Design cooling fins. Both the Godlike and ACE models in the same series are additionally equipped with an aluminum support plate on the back of the motherboard, which at the same time improves the cooling of the motherboard.
For the MPG series, the company was content to mention that the motherboards have M.2 Shield Frozr to keep the M.2 SSDs cool and K7 heat pads to ensure good heat transfer. In the MAG series, the company’s new idea was to color-code different models regardless of the chipset: Z 590 Tomahawk WiFi and B 560 Tomahawk WiFi are graphite gray in color, Z 590 Torpedo and B 560 Torpedo blue and B 560 M Bazooka green.
All of the company’s MEG, MPG, and MAG series motherboards are equipped with the new Audio Boost 5 audio playback. The solution is presumably based on Realtek’s new ALC 4000 series codec. In addition, the Wi-Fi solution for all motherboards based on the company’s Z 590 chipset supports state-of-the-art Wi-Fi 6E technology.
At the same time, MSI released the official recommended prices for motherboards based on the Z 590 chipset, which can be found in the table above. At its most affordable Z 590 – the chipset can be obtained from the company Z 590 – A Pro – on the motherboard 185 at the recommended price of EUR when MEG Z 590 The price of Godlike is as much as 999 euros.
The price range of Asus’ motherboard range starts with Prime Z 590 M-Plus from less than two hundred all the way to ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Glacial 1500 euros
Intel’s CES 2021 virtual trade show gave the first tastings of the upcoming Rocket Lake processors, which are expected to go on sale in March. However, the first motherboards in the 500 series for new processors are due to go on sale as early as February.
Asus’ Z 590 motherboard range is familiarly divided into the ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF and Prime series. In total, Asus introduced at this stage 13 the motherboard.
The company has invested as much as 18 in the Maximux XIII Extreme top models + 2-phase power supply, which is cooled in the basic model with an aluminum heatsink and in the Glacial model with an integrated monoblock. The company has implemented the Glacial model monoblock in cooperation with EKWB. All Maximus XIII models, on the other hand, have in common the new Thunderbolt 4 connectors and Wi-Fi 6E support, which is also found on the Strix series motherboards.
Extreme models also come with a new ROG Fan Controller designed to fit in a 2.5-inch drive bay for easy installation. The ROG Fan Controller is equipped with six 4-pin fan connectors and an assignable RGB connector, as well as two thermal sensor connectors. For audio, Extreme models get the new ROG Clavis, an external Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) using USB Type-C, with four ESS transformers, each dedicated to a specific frequency range.
Finnish prices for motherboards are not yet known, but Asus’ German office has already revealed local recommended prices for motherboards. At its cheapest, the Asus Z 590 motherboard is available in Prime Z 590 M-Plus format, which has a Recommended Price in Germany 189 euros. At the other end of the list, as expected, you will find Extreme models: Maximus XIII Extreme 960 euros and Extreme Glacial 1516 euros. Both MSI and ASUS have revealed the MSRPs for their Z590 lineups, and by the looks of it, they are a bit pricey. In MSI’s case, the pricing table clearly states that it’s just indicative, meaning that the final price may still be adjusted – for better or for worse.
MSI’s 500-series lineup will feature a total of 30 motherboards, with fifteen based on the Z590 chipset. For now, MSI has only shared pricing for eleven Z590 motherboards, but the other four should be announced shortly. The cheapest motherboard will come in at €185, but the most costly shoots up to €999.

According to MSI, some of the reasons behind such steep prices include the increasing cost of components and shipping – something ASUS has already mentioned. Other factors include the damages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the short term, the Chinese New Year. On the plus side, MSI doesn’t expect to have supply issues for these motherboards.
ASUS’ Z590 lineup pricing has also been revealed. Generally, they are pricier than MSI motherboards, with the lowest tier costing €189, while the most expensive goes up to €1516.

Corsair has launched a new series of ATX / E-ATX mid-tower PC cases – 5000 D, 5000 D Airflow and iCUE 5000 X RGB. The premiere products facilitate the laying of cables inside the structure and offer an aesthetic appearance thanks to the cable management system. The housing is to guarantee airy and spacious interior, which allows the simultaneous installation of up to two heat sinks with a length 360 mm (top and front). The whole is complemented by fans from the Corsair AirGuide series, special grilles and magnetic doors and cages for discs included in the set. 5000 D has a minimalist and elegant style with a solid metal panel on the front. In turn, the model 5000 D Airflow has been further optimized for increased air circulation thanks to the mesh on the front. iCUE 5000 X RGB has four transparent tempered glass panels, three RGB fans and a built-in RGB controller.

The Corsair RapidRoute cable management system, first used in the series 4000, helps in organizing cabling, while ensuring an aesthetic, professional appearance of the system. Further improvements have been made to RapidRoute in the series 5000. The hidden cutout is wide enough to accommodate all the most important connections to the motherboard, and the many removable cable management channels allow you to arrange them invisibly. All cabling can be hidden in a large 25 mm behind the board main and behind the magnetic door, so it’s even easier to build a great-looking PC.

Cases 5000 D and 5000 D Airflow comes with two diameter fans 120 mm with Corsair AirGuide technology. According to the manufacturer’s opinion, their blades prevent the formation of turbulence, which favors the concentration of air circulation and the intensive directing of cooling directly to the installed computer components. ICUE version 5000 X RGB comes with three SP fans by default 120 RGB Elite AirGuide, each with eight individually addressable RGB LEDs that are controlled by the included iCUE Lighting Node Core and Corsair iCUE software.

The spacious interior of the enclosures provides plenty of space for the installation of additional cooling, as it can accommodate up to fans 120 mm or up to 4 fans 140 mm. I can now reveal the secret and tell you that it’s not bad.
A developer going by the name of Patr10tic has created an interactive map using GPS metadata and videos from the app Parler to offer a glimpse of what was happening inside and around the Capitol building during the violent protest on January 6th (via Motherboard).
The project is an expansion on similar maps like the one Gizmodo created to illustrate just how many Parler users were part of the mob that occupied the Capitol building, based off an archive created by a researcher known as @donk_enby. Patr10tic’s map (currently named “Y’all Qaeda”) uses the same archive and connects GPS coordinates with actual video, offering a map of red icons placed around the Capitol for each associated video post.
Viewing the videos has an unsettling quality, not just because of the intersection of conspiracy theories and white supremacist ideology on display, but also the perspective they offer on the Capitol itself. Most people haven’t seen the chambers of Congress and the halls of the Capitol outside of press photos or C-SPAN live feeds. Seeing protesters milling about in Congressional offices feels strange, but it’s even stranger seeing them wander through the Capitol building, unbothered, with police looking on.
Whatever feelings watching the videos provoke, the map and other projects like it could prove vital to investigating just how the events of January 6th took place. Parler’s already been identified as a site for planning last week’s protests, and this growing, mapped compilation of posts shows that it was one of the main ways it was documented as well.

Intel’s Z590 motherboards haven’t officially hit the retail shelves yet; however, Asus and MSI have gone ahead and revealed the pricing for their corresponding offerings.
For starters, Asus will launch up to 13 different Z590 motherboards that originate from the brand’s ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF, and Prime lineups. Asus Germany shared the press release, so the MSRP is only valid for Germany and Austria. The German branch didn’t specify whether the pricing already includes VAT (value-added tax) or not, though.
For this generation, Asus is separating the ROG Maximus XIII Extreme into the vanilla version and the Glacial version that comes with an EK monoblock. According to the press release, either motherboard may command a price tag over $1,000, enough money to put together a gaming PC. In retrospect, the ROG Maximus XII Extreme already retails for $749.99.
It’s interesting, though, that the press release listed the ROG Maximus XIII Apex, an overclocking-eccentric model that usually launches afterward. Considering that the current Maximus XII Apex already gets the job done, it blows our mind that Asus would refresh the motherboard since Rocket Lake-S is expected to be the last wave of processors on the LGA1200 socket.

On the other hand, MSI preferred to reveal its Z590 lineup via the company’s MSI Insider stream. The total number of motherboards comes down to 12, spanning from the Pro series all the way up to the exclusive MEG series.
The MEG Z590 Godlike, which probably doesn’t need an introduction, will bring all the bells and whistles to the table. The Z590-powered motherboard boasts an MSRP of up to $1,019. At this rate, it’s a competition between the MEG Z590 Godlike and ROG Maximus XIII Extreme to see which one costs more than the other. Not that it’s a good thing since consumers will have to shell out tons of cash for one or the other.
Enthusiasts will be happy to know that MSI will roll out the MEG Z590 Unify and MEG Z590I Unify once again. What these motherboards lack in bright lights, they make up for in features, especially the MEG Z590I Unify that will probably excel in memory overclocking.
Let’s be honest. This wasn’t the CES anyone wanted. We’ve been covering North America’s largest tech show for years, so we can definitively say that, without in-person booths and demos, it’s just not the same. The most interesting things at any show happen outside of the scripted press conferences where we get to see and touch products in person, talk to product managers off the record or wander the halls, looking for the unexpected.
However, even in a down year, there were some bright spots that give us hope for a tech-filled 2021. From a new generation of powerful AMD laptops to a super-sleek compact chassis and even an RGB mask, these are the hottest new products unveiled this week.
Best CPU: AMD Ryzen 5000 Mobile

AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series granted the company the performance lead over Intel in desktop PCs for the first time in more than a decade, and now AMD has brought that same powerful Zen 3 architecture to laptops — and in record time.
The four-, six- and eight-core ‘Cezanne’ Ryzen 5000 Mobile series should bring the best of Zen 3 to laptops, granting the company the lead in single- and multi-threaded applications over Intel’s Tiger Lake chips that still top out at four cores. These powerful new chips will also find their way into gaming laptops hosting the fastest mobile GPUs, finally giving us high-end options for AMD’s mobile platforms.
The entire Ryzen 5000 Mobile lineup comes with threading enabled, higher clock speeds than their predecessors, and brings AMD’s innovative new boost technology to laptops for the first time, which promises higher performance in lightly-threaded work and longer battery life. AMD even threw in two new overclockable HX-series models that support core, memory, and fabric overclocking, which could be a potent combination with the company’s RDNA2 mobile GPUs that land later this year. — Paul Alcorn

Best GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB

Nvidia effectively wins this one by default, because nothing else was really announced. Sure, GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs are coming to gaming laptops as well, but those are just power-optimized versions of the Ampere GPUs we already know and love — well, those of us who are lucky enough to have found one in stock, at any rate.
The GeForce RTX 3060 sounds like an amazing value proposition. Performance looks like it should come pretty close to matching the RTX 2070 Super, a card that launched at $500. What’s more, Nvidia has elected to go with a 12GB VRAM configuration, which is more memory than any of the other RTX cards outside of the RTX 3090 and Titan RTX. It’s about time, I say! Plenty of games won’t need 12GB, but there are enough that now creep past 8GB that it’s a welcome change, and 6GB definitely wouldn’t feel right on a $330 mainstream card that’s supposed to last a few years.
The real question: Is there a chance in hell that Nvidia and its partners will have enough RTX 3060 cards available at launch to satisfy the demand? My crystal ball is literally laughing at me for even asking, and suggesting I check back around Computex time to see if things have improved. — Jarred Walton

Best Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga

In the ultraportable category, CES 2021 was dominated by business laptops to go with the launch of Intel’s 11th Gen vPro mobile processors. Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Titanium impressed with its looks and the thoughtfulness given to its design. The 3:2 aspect ratio on the 13.5-inch, 2K display is great for all types of work, as it provides a taller screen. It also makes for a much better tablet experience than a 16:9 laptop. That display also promises Dolby Vision HDR support, while the audio will come from Dolby Atmos speakers.
At 0.45 inches thick, the Titanium Yoga is the thinnest ThinkPad ever, but still tested to military standards. While we haven’t had hands-on due to the virtual nature of CES this year, it looks like it will be a stunning and lightweight convertible 2-in-1at just 2.54 pounds. — Andrew E. Freedman
Nvidia’s new RTX 30-series mobile GPUs and new processors from both Intel and AMD meant a slew of gaming notebooks at this year’s CES. But the MSI Stealth 15M was one of very few to utilize both a new processor and GPU. This laptop is, at 0.6 inches thick, somewhere in-between full-on gaming and an ultraportable. It’s combining a 35-watt Intel Core i7-11375H CPU with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q GPU, which should be somewhat formidable for most games.
The all-aluminum stylings and black and white color options appear quite slick. Some of MSI’s other ultraportable gaming options, like GF75, will offer a 45W processor and similar GPU, but it’s also a bit bulkier. For those who want it thin, the Stealth is one of a few laptops in an area we’ll keep a close eye on. — Andrew E. Freedman

Best Case: iBuyPower Revolt 3 MK3

Taking credit for perhaps the most improved product at this year’s CES, iBuyPower’s Revolt 3 MK3 desktop is a drastic departure from the
Revolt 2
’s RGB and glass-heavy horizontal design. Instead, what we’ve got here is a compact tower with no glass or RGB but plenty of vents on all sides.
Not only does that give it a more understated look that’s easier to fit into your typical office and plenty more space for air to enter and escape the machine, but it’s also more equipped to take advantage of the small form factor footprint that unifies the Revolt line. A handle on the top makes this case easy to pick up for transport, plus it’s got a hook on either side for holding peripherals like headsets.
The side of the case also has a swing-out door for housing a 280mm radiator, plus you can also add on an optional 80mm exhaust fan at the top. The case also comes with a 700 W SFX-L power supply pre-installed alongside pre-routed cables, which makes for one less component you’ll need to buy and should make for less cable clutter.
The key drawback here is the potential for noise. We’ll have to get our hands on it ourselves to say anything definitive, but all those holes do mean you’re probably not going to have much sound dampening.
But that’s an easy tradeoff for such a step forward in usability and looks compared to the oddly-shaped Revolt 2. Plus, you’ll be can get the Revolt 3 MK3 in white too. — Michelle Ehrhardt

Best Motherboard: EVGA Z590 Dark

Intel’s Rocket Lake-S CPUs may not quite be here yet, but motherboard makers rarely let a CES go by without a cadre of new boards to show. And over the last couple of days, we’ve seen details of nearly 50 Z590 motherboards land in our inboxes. While many are intriguing, the EVGA Z590 Dark stands out.
The design of the E-ATX board has an understated aggressiveness, with its large copper heatsinks and black…well, pretty much everything else. The board backs up its aesthetics with a crazy overbuilt 22-phase VRM and a 10-layer PCB. Most of the connectors are angled, to help in hiding cables, which is aided by a cutout in the area of the 24-pin power and USB header connectors.
The board’s primary oddity is a CPU socket that’s rotated 90 degrees. That could complicate some cooler setups, and you only get two RAM slots. But the latter is a nod to memory overclockers, who often get better results on two-slot Mini-ITX boards. No word yet on rated supported RAM speeds, but you can bet they’re going to be among the fastest on the market. And while you lose RAM slots, the board ships with an extra pair of SATA ports (8 total), so you can probably plug in every functional SATA drive you’ve got in a drawer or a box in the back of your closet. For faster storage, the EVGA Z590 Dark has three M.2 slots. And if 11 drives isn’t enough for you, you may want to consider a drive storage rack, or perhaps talking to a professional about your digital hoarding disorder. — Matt Safford

Best Monitor: LG UltraFine 32EP950

There’s no denying the image quality boost offered by OLED, with its deliciously deep blacks. When it comes to PC monitors though, finding an OLED screen in a size that can comfortably sit atop a desk has been virtually impossible. Enter the LG UltraFine 32EP950, an OLED stunner in an eye-pleasing 31.5-inch form factor.
LG’s 4K OLED monitor targets professionals with a lot of color (a claimed 99% of DCI-P3). But enthusiasts of any kind will appreciate the bevy of ports, which includes DisplayPort, HDMI and even USB-C with 90W charging.
But what really makes this UltraFine ultra fine is that it brings us closer to being able to put the amazing contrast of OLED right in our home office without necessarily breaking the bank — or desk like you would with the more common, larger OLED TV alternatives. — Scharon Harding

Best Concept: Razer Project Hazel

CES 2021 was different this year, for all the reasons our lives are different right now. But we certainly didn’t expect to see Razer, a gaming-focused company, make a concept mask that might even make the category kind of cool.
Project Hazel is not for sale — and may never be. But the ideas make sense. It’s clear to allow you to see others’ emotions, as well as for the hard of hearing to be able to read lips. There are voice amplifiers so that you aren’t muffled by the mask. The case is also a charger, and it has UV lights to disinfect the mask. The whole thing would be an N95 respirator, and oh, yeah, there are two Chroma RGB rings.
There are some questions we have, like if the mask’s ability to let in fresh air and expel CO2 would completely protect against an airborne virus like the one that causes COVID-19. But the thoughtful ideas could make for an improved mask in a world where it looks like we’ll be wearing them more often. — Andrew E. Freedman

Best Keyboard: Asus ROG Claymore II

Tenkeyless (aka TKL) keyboards are very popular with gamers, because they save space by doing away with the numeric keypad many people only use for work. However, there are times when you really need those extra keys and Asus’ new ROG Claymore II keyboard has the answer: a numpad that slides on and snaps into its right side.
The Claymore II works in both wired and high-speed 2.4 GHz wireless modes. You can also swap out the USB-C cable with one of your own.
This keyboard also uses Asus’s own opto-mechanical keys in either Blue or Red style. This allows for less key wobble than traditional mechanical keys and lets more RGB light through. — Avram Piltch

Best Mouse: Thermaltake Argent M5 RGB Gaming Mouse

We didn’t see a lot of mice at this year’s CES, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still a clear winner. Thermaltake’s peripherals have been less than beautiful in the past, but this year’s CES saw a change in direction for the company with its new Argent line. Meaning “silver,” the idea behind Argent is to pair Thermaltake’s impressive technical features with premium build quality and silver finishes.
Take the Argent M5 RGB Gaming Mouse, our favorite mouse from this year’s show. While it does separate itself from the rest of the Argent line with a black main body, it’s still got a slick, symmetrical look that’s highlighted by RGB alongside its sides and bottom and a textured metallic silver scroll wheel on top. Achieving that symmetrical look means that the design here is ambidextrous, which can be a mixed bag for right-handed gamers, but lefties will be sure to appreciate the extra usability.
On the inside, the Argent M5 is packing DPI support from 100 to 16,000, plus a polling rate under 1ms and 64Kb of memory. The mouse’s 8 programmable buttons also use Omron switches, and the wired version’s cable is both braided and detachable.
That’s right- the Argent M5 also comes in both wired and wireless options, which gives it plenty of versatility. The wireless version of the mouse does lose RGB along its bottom and sides, likely to save battery life, but in exchange, it can connect over either Bluetooth 5.0 or 2.4GHz using a USB adapter.
All of this leaves us with a powerful, versatile Thermaltake pointer that finally looks the part. — Michelle Ehrhardt

Best Headset: Lenovo Legion H600

It’s hard for a headset to stand out in an all-virtual CES. After all, we can’t test the audio quality, comfort or even durability. But what makes the Lenovo Legion H600 innovative actually has nothing to do with any of those characteristics. The standout feature is the wireless headset’s ability to charge wirelessly. But unlike other wireless charging gaming headsets we’ve seen, the Legion H600 gets its charge all while hanging attractively in its headset stand.
Sadly, you’ll need a specific headset stand to make this happen. The Legion S600 Gaming Station comes at an additional cost but also brings its own Qi wireless charger, as well as two USB Type-A passthrough ports. We’d rather the cans and headset stand/charger come bundled together. But if you’re willing to make the investment this looks like a clean, clever way to charge and store your cans, as well as other devices. — Scharon Harding

With its 500-series chipsets, Intel has finally broken tradition and enabled memory overclocking on a non-Z chipset. For this generation, motherboards that leverage the H570 or B560 chipset will allow consumers to use memory that’s faster than the official supported specification for Rocket Lake-S.
Intel’s latest move may look insignificant for AMD owners, as AMD was always more accomodating with memory overclocking on its budget chipsets, such as the A-or B-series. Before the 500-series chipsets came along, Intel owners only had access to memory overclocking on the flagship Z-series chipset. It took Intel long enough, but it’s nice to finally see the chipmaker opening the door for the pocket-friendly chipsets.
For Comet Lake-S, Intel utilized a two-level scheme for memory support. The Core i9 and Core i7 SKUs natively support DDR4-2933, while the Core i5 and below tiers are limited to DDR4-2666. Therefore, H470 and B460 chipsets were restricted to DDR4-2933 support.

ASRock’s Z590 Taichi product page (via momomo_us) suggests that Intel is employing a similar tactic with Rocket Lake-S. The description for memory support reads “11th Gen Intel Core™ (i9/i7/i5) support DDR4 up to 3200; Core (i3), Pentium and Celeron support DDR4 up to 2666.”
An early rumor suggested that the 11th Generation branding housed both Rocket Lake-S and Comet Lake Refresh chips. ASRock’s lettering supports this theory. The Core i9 to Core i5 models are Rocket Lake-S chips that support DDR4-3200, and the remnants are Comet Lake Refresh chips that do DDR4-2666, the same as the existing generation.
The H570 and B560 chipsets now support memory overclocking (memory above DDR4-3200), but you still need to pair the respective motherboard with a Core i5 and above processor. Core i3 and below still stick to DDR4-2666. It’s not the full mile, but it’s something nonetheless. In the past, pairing a Core i9 chip on an H-or B-series chipset meant you were locked out from using faster memory.
