HMD Global’s novelty will be on sale in the price range of approximately 200
HMD Global has today released its new Nokia 5.4 smartphone as the successor to the 5.3 model released last March. Somewhat especially, some of the features of the device have even deteriorated compared to the predecessor model.
Equipped with a polycarbonate shell, the Nokia 5.4 has been slightly reduced in size compared to its predecessor. The main reason for this is a slight decrease 6, 20 – an inch screen whose aspect ratio has also changed slightly against the general trend , i.e. : 9: , 5: 9. Other display features have also been slightly degraded from the predecessor, as the maximum brightness has been reduced.

Apple has surprisingly created the basis for Corona warning apps on iPhone 6, 6 Plus and 5s. With the iOS version released on Monday evening 12 5, Apple and Google come together developed interface for Corona encounter messages (Exposure Notification API) on the two older iPhone model series on which iOS 13 and 14 cannot be installed.
Apple wants to promote the spread of corona warnings With this step, the aim is to increase the spread and use of the corona Increase warning systems, stressed Apple. All functions to protect privacy were also built into the older iOS version when the interface was integrated. After activation by the user, iPhones exchange Bluetooth IDs with devices in the vicinity and thus keep a contact log. If a user reports his Covid 13 disease via an official app, should be on all devices A warning message appears to which there was a longer and closer contact (see also questions and answers about the Corona warning app of the federal government).
Leave in Germany the corona encounter messages can only be activated via app, this is currently under iOS 12. 5 not yet possible – the Corona warning app must first be adapted, it currently sets at least iOS 13. 6 ahead. Whether and when the iPhone 6 and 5s will be supported remains open for the time being. Provider of Corona apps that have certain functions in iOS 13 or 14 can also consider using Exposure Notifications Express, notes Apple – that eliminates the need to install an app , the warnings can then be activated directly in the operating system. Some US states rely on this variant.
Corona encounter messages so far only from iOS 13. 5 The corona encounter messages were originally only available from iOS 13. 5, iPhone 6 and 5s were excluded for months. So far, Apple has pointed out that most of the iPhones used support iOS 13. While the iPhone 5s introduced in September 19 will only be used comparatively rarely, the 2014 the following iPhone 6 can be found much more often: Apple brought the iPhone 6 in the year 2017 again in several countries as an entry-level model in the trade, also in Germany. The Corona warning app is the most loaded iPhone app 2020 – iPhones are clearly overrepresented when using the app.
iOS 12. 5 also closes an apparently serious security hole on older iPhones and iPads, according to Apple, where the execution of “unauthorized codes can lead to the violation of authentication guidelines”. Further details are not available.

Apple has iOS 14. 3 and iPadOS 14. 3 released for download. The update can be obtained from the integrated software update or imported from a PC via iTunes or the Mac Finder. The new version of the operating system provides support for two new Apple products.
The AirPods Max headphone, which will be available to the first customers in the course of the week require this version of the operating system. Apple is also integrating the fitness video service Fitness + into the fitness app on the iPhone, iPad users can now download it for the first time from the App Store. The subscription service, which starts in parallel on Monday evening, is not yet available in Germany for the time being. In addition to iOS 14. 3, Apple also has watchOS 7.2, tvOS 14. 3 and macOS 11. 1 released.
New features of iOS 14. 3 iOS 14. 3 on iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, the option to take photos in Apple’s new ProRAW format and edit them in the Photos app is sufficient. On older devices, it should also be possible to optionally mirror the image of the selfie camera.
The data protection labels for apps that are on Start Monday evening in the App Store. They are already mandatory for new apps and app updates and should appear in all app stores, including the Mac App Store and the Apple Watch.
In Germany, Apple is changing the provider of air quality data, which are integrated into the weather app. They now come from Breezometer and seem to be partially available in larger cities at street or district level instead of just roughly for entire cities. If the air quality is poor, the weather app and the Siri voice assistance system should also provide health advice, according to Apple – Germany is one of the supported countries here as well.
The TV app would like to find content from Apple’s streaming service TV + with a new tab. An improved search function with suggestions and the browsing of the catalog, for example by genre, are other new features. With the cycle log, it is now possible to log pregnancy, breastfeeding and the use of contraception methods, writes Apple. The Ecosia search engine is available as a new search option in Safari. The app clip codes designed by Apple are now also supported for opening the app clips introduced with iOS 14.
Bug fixes The update is supposed to fix a number of errors, including problems with receiving MMS messages, opening app folders, sharing videos from the Photos app and opening apps from Spotlight search. MagSafe Duo should also no longer reduce the charging power and, according to the manufacturer, the lack of availability of the Bluetooth settings is a thing of the past. As usual, the new iOS version should also close security gaps, details are still pending.
The iPhone 12 delivers impressive picture and sound quality in a premium smartphone package
For
Impressive OLED display
Musical sound
Slick and speedy interface
Against
No charger in the box
Pricier than before
Although some new Apple products are undoubtedly more evolution than revolution, the iPhone 12 sports a brand-new design, a new screen, is powered by a new processor, and is capable of performing some new party tricks including, for the first time, 5G support.
But it’s also gained a more expensive price tag and lost a couple of things from its box along the way (namely a charger and pair of EarPods). Does the iPhone 12 still deliver that all-round ability and performance-per-pound value that made its predecessor, the iPhone 11, such a brilliant buy?
Pricing
As you’d expect, given its premium standing, the iPhone 12 isn’t the cheapest smartphone around. It’s actually £100 ($100) more expensive than the iPhone 11 across all its different storage sizes.
The 64GB iPhone 12 is £799 ($799, AU$1349), the 128GB version comes in at £849 ($849, AU$1429), while the top-of-the-range 256GB handset will set you back £949 ($949, AUS$1599).
This still puts a bit of distance between itself and the flagship iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, which start at £999 ($999, AU$1699) and £1099 ($1099, AU$1849) respectively. However, both of these boast 128GB as their entry-level storage size, topping out at 512GB. It’s a shame the standard iPhone 12 doesn’t offer similar.
Build
That fancy new design isn’t quite as new as Apple might like you to believe. We’ve seen flat edges before, on the iPhone 4 from 2010, but there’s no doubt that the flat sides on that aerospace-grade aluminium enclosure gives the iPhone an impressively premium look and feel, especially in the Product Red finish of our review sample (the other finishes available are: white, black, blue and green).
Apple iPhone 12 tech specs
Screen size 6.1in
Type OLED
Resolution 2532 x 1170
Operating system iOS 14
Finishes x5
Battery life 17hrs video, 65hrs audio
Dimensions (hwd) 14.7 x 7.2 x 0.7cm
Weight 164g
It’s solidly built and slightly easier to grip than the iPhone 11’s curved chassis, although it arguably doesn’t feel as nice. This also might be down to the fact the iPhone 12 is a little trimmer, with a few millimetres shaved off all round.
The new iPhone also feels light in-hand. This is because the iPhone 12 weighs 164g, which is 30g lighter than the iPhone 11. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but you can definitely feel the difference swapping from one to the other.
Besides the design tweaks, the big headline news for the iPhone 12 relates to its screen. Gone is the 6.1in Liquid Retina HD LCD display from the iPhone 11; in its place is a 6.1in OLED Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels and a pixel density of 460ppi.
It’s still a True Tone and Wide colour display but there’s now proper HDR support built in for HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG content. This boosts the potential maximum brightness of the phone to 1200 nits (it’s 625 nits with SDR content). The screen switch is a big and obvious upgrade for the iPhone 12 and one that immediately makes its presence felt.
The iPhone 12 display also sports what Apple calls a Ceramic Shield front cover, which is claimed to give it extra durability and make the display less prone to cracking and smashing than on previous iPhones.
Features
The big changes go deep under the screen too, with the debut of Apple’s A14 Bionic chip and next-gen Neural Engine. According to Apple, it’s the fastest chip inside a smartphone for both GPU and CPU performance and can supposedly complete 11 trillion operations per second.
That’s not something we can measure, but the way the iPhone 12 works with Apple’s iOS14 operating system shows that this is one speedy customer. The phone is a breeze to navigate, whether you’re firing up Netflix for a quick binge or multitasking through a number of different apps. It’s a smooth operator and never seems to get bogged down during daily use. We find it quicker than the iPhone 11 when it comes to booting up video and music streaming services, but it’s not a huge difference.
On the camera front, you still get a 12MP dual-lens set-up on the back, but there have been a few subtle tweaks under the hood to allow for better pictures in low-light. As a daytime snapper, there isn’t much to grumble about, with the iPhone 12 producing nicely balanced pictures with even colours and a fine sense of realism. It’s worth noting, though, that unlike the Pro and Pro Max models, there’s no telephoto lens and, consequently, no optical zoom for the iPhone 12.
The iPhone 12 can, however, record video in Dolby Vision at 30 frames per second, which could come in handy for those using their phone for the occasional vlog. Battery life is close to the iPhone 11 (Apple doesn’t quote the size of the batteries), at around 17 hours for video and 65 hours for audio playback. Some Android rivals boast bigger batteries that last longer, but we still find a full day of average use doesn’t prove a problem. It is disappointing, though, to see the iPhone charger has been jettisoned from the box (you now only get a USB-C to Lightning cable).
The lack of EarPods is less frustrating. We’ve never been huge fans of Apple’s out-of-the-box earbuds, and if you don’t already have a pair of headphones to hand, we would recommend that you invest in some AirPods or a decent pair of alternatives.
The iPhone 12 also sees the introduction of MagSafe for wireless charging (up to 15W) and compatibility with a new line-up of accessories that attach to a ring of magnets on the rear of the handset.
Sound
The iPhone 12 supports Dolby Atmos and Apple’s own spatial audio processing, available to enjoy through the AirPods Pro and the recently announced AirPods Max.
The speakers on the iPhone 12 sound just as good as they do on the iPhone 11 – the balance is good enough to watch the occasional YouTube video or play a few seconds of your favourite Tidal track. It’s nicely balanced by smartphone speaker standards, with decent separation and detail, though as you’d expect there’s not a huge amount of bass weight on offer.
Hook up a pair of wired headphones via Apple’s 3.5mm to Lightning dongle or partner the iPhone with a pair of quality wireless headphones and you’ll get a better idea of the iPhone’s strengths.
Apple has got into the habit of producing some of the best-sounding smartphones on the market and the iPhone 12 picks up where the iPhone 11 left off. It’s a case of more of the same with the smartphone delivering enthusiasm and musicality in spades. The iPhone works well across multiple genres and keeps you entertained right to the last second of every track.
Play Michael Jackson’s Man In The Mirror and there’s plenty of sparkle in those highs during those opening seconds. The iPhone picks out plenty of detail and texture from Jacko’s voice and its ability to handle dynamics with aplomb means you feel the full impact as the vocal switches from sounding delicate in the verses to punchier and more direct in the chorus, reinforced with the backing of the gospel choir.
Switch to a classical track, such as Time from the Inception soundtrack, and the iPhone 12 continues to impress. The tone and timbre of the strings are expertly judged, as is the weight and impact of the drums that form a powerful undercurrent and drive the track along. A lack of background noise allows the drama and emotion of the track to come to the fore.
Screen
The switch to the new OLED screen brings immediate results for the iPhone 12. You’re greeted with a clean and clear picture that boasts impressive depth and realism. There’s a sense of polish and pristineness to the picture which the LCD display of the iPhone 11 simply can’t match.
Add that to the inherent strengths of OLED technology, such as black levels and viewing angle, and this is a picture that draws you in. Staring into the outer space of Star Trek Discovery on Netflix, we can’t help but be impressed by the inky black canvas the iPhone paints. Stars appear as tiny pinpricks of bright white light but there’s no bleeding into the rest of the picture. Each star shimmers in its own space.
Detail levels are excellent whether it’s the stunning CGI or the characters’ faces and costumes. As the Discovery reaches warp speed, the flurry of bright flashes against the galaxy backdrop make the picture pop in a way that its predecessor can’t match. The extra brightness and punch the OLED screen delivers becomes even more obvious when you place it next to the iPhone 11’s LCD display, too.
Verdict
The iPhone 12 is another model we can add to a successful line of smartphones from Apple. The addition of that excellent OLED display has elevated picture performance to another level and helps justify the slight price hike over its predecessor. Sound quality is as good as it’s ever been, too. All these positives combined make for a highly tempting and typically Apple package.

Turned off at 55 years Eric Engstrom, one of the developers of the DirectX API, the multimedia heart that allows the Windows operating system and the Xbox to more directly interfacing hardware with software, especially video games.
by Manolo De Agostini published 14 December 2020 , at 08: 01 in the Videogames channel Microsoft Windows Xbox
For over two decades we play on Windows, then in 2001 came the Xbox and from that moment Microsoft has established itself increasingly as a solid reality in the world of gaming . However, there was a moment, in the midst of Windows development 95, when the future of the operating system as a platform for gaming seemed shaky at the very least. The story could have been very different if a trio of people – Eric Engstrom, Alex St. John and Craig Eisler – had failed to make Windows attractive to video game developers , who at the time were not inclined to leave the old way (MS-DOS) for the new one.
Engstrom, St. John and Eisler are none other than the proponents of API (Application Programming Interface) DirectX , the key element that allows the hardware to “speak” directly with Windows and vice versa, in order to compose a game scene that is increasingly rich in elements and allow you to interact with them. Unfortunately, as reported by the Wall Street Journal in recent days, Eric Engstrom passed away at the age of 55 years. For him, as explained by his wife Cindy, a foot injury in October was fatal, resulting in an accidental intake of Tylenol which caused liver damage.
Eric Engstrom – Credit: Cindy Engstrom
The “Beastie Boys”, as the three were nicknamed, have thus lost a member of the promoter group of the APIs that to date have marked almost 30 years of evolution of video games. “Disdainful of colleagues who did not share their ideas, were so hateful that Brad Silverberg, head of the Windows business, nicknamed them the Beastie Boys. He had to turn down frequent requests to fire them, “says the WSJ.
Engstrom was called by Alex St. John and Craig Eisler to develop APIs that could convince game developers to switch from MS-DOS, able to ensure direct access to the hardware, to the new environment . Windows did not initially have similar capabilities, but instead provided a little more standard and less direct access to components, and this was not what the developers liked. Furthermore, the solution adopted to favor the porting of DOS titles to Windows, WinG, proved difficult and quite unstable.
Engstrom’s role, among other things, was to talk to the developers and collect their consent to the new API, whose code name was “ Manhattan Project “for obvious reasons of secrecy: you must know that Microsoft was mistrustful, not to mention something more, towards the work of this trio, so much so that they often threatened to leave the company. In short, a nice setting. Fortunately, troubled stories don’t always end badly and today Windows is an attractive and successful gaming platform.
DirectX they allowed Windows to become the gaming platform we know , so much so that Microsoft wisely based the Xbox on it too. We have come to the DirectX 12 Ultimate version, a version of the API that not only gives more and more access directed to the hardware, but now “commands” a series of vast and advanced features: we think that DirectX includes the new DirectStorage API to put video cards in direct communication with the storage, but also DirectX Raytracing (DXR) capable of manage lighting effects differently than in the past.

Surprisingly, Microsoft is not simply offering the old Windows Forms in the new .NET world, but is actively working on the Further development. What does this mean for .NET developers?
Windows Forms is the original desktop interface library in .NET, which is included in. NET Framework 1.0 in the year 2020 and 2005 in .NET 2.0 experienced a big boost in extensions.
13 Years of standstill With the introduction in the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) in the year 2006 Windows Forms got sidelined and was, apart from minor improvements, especially in the area of high-DPI support and accessibility (see development of .NET 4.5 to 4.8) no longer developed.
Windows Forms (just like WPF) was not included in .NET Core 1.0 to 2.2. For .NET Core 3.0 (released in September 2019) Microsoft then has WPF and Windows Forms in the new .NET world adopted (but not platform-neutral, only on Windows). Therefore, both GUI frameworks are also included in .NET 5.0 (and its future successors .NET 6.0, 7.0, etc.). A useful designer for Windows Forms in .NET Core / .NET 5.0 projects is also in Visual Studio 2019 v 16. 8 of November 2020 still in the preview stage. You may have to use the crutch to design the interfaces in a classic .NET framework project and to link the result to the new project.
New features since .NET Core 3.0 Surprisingly, Microsoft doesn’t just offer the old Windows Forms in the new .NET world , but is actively working on further development: In .NET Core 3.0 only a small improvement appeared that the high-DPI setting can not only be set via configuration file, but also in the program code via API. In .NET 5.0, however, several noteworthy improvements for Windows Forms are built directly:
new control element: TaskDialog (a much more flexible variant of a messagebox). The ListView control now offers a collapsible group. FileDialog can have several states in an application through ClientGuid. significant performance improvements when rendering some controls. Improvements for UI automation. It should be mentioned that the improvements to the controls did not come from Microsoft developers themselves, but were pull requests from the user community that Microsoft included in the official release.
It is also important not to hide the fact that some smaller features are missing in the .NET Core and .NET 5 implementation of Windows Forms and in November 2019 was another big setback when Microsoft expanded some older Windows Forms controls in .NET Core 3.1 that were included in .NET Core 3.0.
What does Microsoft want to tell us? For a lot en years there have been discussions in the .NET user community on the subject of Windows Forms versus WPF. Some software providers have switched their interfaces to the graphically more powerful WPF (at MAXIMAGO we have been creating .NET applications exclusively with WPF for years, since our requirements for the user experience with Windows Forms are much more complex to implement), but other software providers are doing this supposedly simpler Windows Forms remained – and there are quite a few companies. Third-party vendors have been delivering new controls for Windows Forms for years, thereby keeping the old GUI framework alive. Microsoft has also recognized the continuing demand for Windows Forms and is therefore offering this group of customers incentives to switch to the modern .NET 5.0 world.
For WPF, .NET Core 3.0 / 3.1 and .NET 5.0 no significant improvements except for a few bug fixes. Does that mean Microsoft is recommending that developers work with Windows Forms again? No certainly not. I see it this way: Windows Forms has a lot of catching up to do because it is a very old architecture and lay idle for many years.
“State of the art” in the GUI frameworks before WinUI3 from the Microsoft perspective (Image: Microsoft) Future WinUI3? From Microsoft’s point of view, the GUI framework of the future is neither Windows Forms nor WPF, but the Windows UI Library 3 (WinUI3). The GUI library WinUI 3.0 is the successor to the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) with WinUI2, which is available in Windows 10 introduced a new name for the “Modern Apps”. While UWP is based solely on the WinRT API and therefore cannot use all functions of the operating system and all local resources, a WinUI-3-based application can optionally use WinRT and / or Win 32 use. This means that you have all the options of the Windows operating system at your disposal.
Whether WinUI3 will be better accepted by customers than UWP will be seen when WinUI3 appears (originally announced for 2020, now for 2021). Because one thing is already clear today: Switching from WPF to WinUI3 means some effort – but it is significantly less than the effort to switch from Windows Forms to WPF or WinUI3, because WinUI3 also uses XAML as the GUI description language like WPF, but it does there are some differences.
The vivo X60 series finally has an official launch date – it is December 29. While we expect a vivo X60 Pro smartphone to be the first Exynos 1080 chipset, another partnership will also be announced on stage – between vivo and the German optical company Zeiss.
The vivo X60 series is one of the last phones, expected in 2020. Not only it will be the first with Samsung’s newest 5nm chipset, but it will also bring OriginOS out of the box – vivo’s own revamped operating system, built on the Android kernel.
Since the vivo X50 family had three phones, we expect a similar situation here. However, the poster has only two camera variants between the three different phones – obviously, the middle one is the regular vivo X60, since it lacks a periscope lens. If the vivo X60 Pro and the vivo X60 Pro+ have the same camera design (unlike the X50 Pro and X50 Pro+), probably the sensors behind the lenses is where the difference is.
Zoom in and take a closer look to the vivo X60 cameras
Either way, we have to wait two more weeks for the official launch. We also hope the series will escape China, because, the vivo X50 Pro+ was never intended for non-Chinese users, depriving fans of an impressive camera kit and great AMOLED.
Attackers could use security holes to remotely execute program code on vulnerable devices. Some secured versions are still pending.

Olivia von Westernhagen In two current security notices, manufacturer Synology warns of several critical security vulnerabilities. They are stuck in the web-based operating system DiskStation Manager (DSM) for Synology network storage (NAS) and in Safe Access , a software for network protection and device management in connection with Synology routers. The information in the security notices is unfortunately very vague: According to this, attackers could exploit the loopholes to remotely execute any program code on the devices.
SafeAccess versions from 1.2.3 – 0234 upwards are covered; Users should upgrade as soon as possible. In the note on DSM, Synology DSM 6.2, DSM UC 3.0, SkyNAS and VS 960 HD as vulnerable . So far there are only updates for DSM 6.2 : A upgrade to at least 6.2.3 – 25426 – 3 closes the gaps.
For the other products the DSM updates are still pending (status “pending”). It is therefore advisable to keep an eye out for updates to the notice published this Thursday and to import them as soon as they are available.

India’s IT ministry bans 43 apps. It applies regardless of the operating system. This means that the number of apps blocked in the world’s second largest country has risen to 219. As a rule, Chinese operators are behind the offers concerned. The measure was taken because “these apps are involved in activities that are detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the defense of India, the security of the state and public order.”
The Ministry announced this on Tuesday. At the end of June, India blocked TikTok, WeChat and 57 other apps that send data to China, including several apps from Baidu, QQ and Tencent. At the beginning of September, more 117 were added, including Alipay, a double listed VPN that was specifically committed to circumventing the TikTok ban, and other apps from Baidu, Tencent and WeChat.
This time four apps from the Alibaba group are affected, an application aimed at lesbians, apps for customers such as chauffeurs from the Lalamove delivery service, and various video and entertainment apps, for example. The Indian government fears that “elements that are hostile to the national security and defense of India” will access the data accumulated by the app operators and use it to create profiles about Indians. With the “elements” are meant secret services of the People’s Republic of China, although the official publications of India never state that.
Conflict between billion states India and China are arguing over control of a border area. In June there were skirmishes that claimed dozens of lives. Since April, both sides have deployed tens of thousands of soldiers in the border region.
In addition, China is trying to drag the Kingdom of Bhutan into the conflict. Bhutan has just 800. 000 inhabitants, while India and China each have around 1.4 billion Population.

Abandoned long ago Project Astoria, Microsoft is carrying out a new WSL-based project to bring Android apps into Windows 10
by Andrea Bai published 28 November 2020 , at 15: 01 in the Software channel Windows Android
At the debut of Windows 10 Microsoft has promised several ways to bring apps to the Windows Store, which over time has changed its name to become the Microsoft Store we know today. Among these roads we will remember Project Centennial for the Win apps 32, Project Westminster for web apps , Project Islandwood to recompile iOS apps with minimal effort and finally Project Astoria for installing and running Android APKs also in Widnows environment.
And of all these, Project Astoria was the only one to have never found a draw (if not only within the Insider Preview program) and was declared at the end of its life in February 2016. It is not known what the exact reason for the closure of Project Astoria is. The rumors circulating in this regard are conflicting: according to some rumors Project Astoria has never shown particular qualities such as to be able to bring it into production, while according to other opinions it would be the exact opposite: a solution so valid as to raise the risk of cannibalization towards UWP apps.
Android app on Windows: goodbye Project Astoria, welcome to Project Latte
But maybe there is a glimmer: an indiscretion published on Windows Central indicates that Microsoft has not abandoned the will to bring to Windows 10 Android apps. The name changes to Project Latte and will be based on the Windows for Linux subsystem. Since WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) will soon be able to support Linux app GUI and GPU acceleration, there is a real possibility for this to work properly.
In the meantime, the limitations of Project Latte seem to be not particularly different from Project Astoria: on the one hand, the developers will have the possibility of porting Android apps without having to intervene with particular changes but, on the other hand, there will be no way to support the Google Play Services . In fact, Google does not allow Play Services to be installed on devices other than those equipped with Android or Chrome OS. In other words, the apps that require the Play Services API to work will have to be appropriately modified so as to eliminate these dependencies before being sent to Windows 10.
When will all this come? In the event that the project should continue without problems or hitches, the official announcement should take place during the next year and the concrete debut probably at the Windows autumn update 10. If this were to become a reality, Windows 10 could become an almost universal operating system in terms of support for app.
Update 2. 12. 08 brings other interesting features in addition to the ability to view 8K video in native format, such as support for Cast Connect functionality launched by Google in August

Not always having a TV with an operating system Android TV means to be the first to receive the news from Google. The latest case in chronological order is 8K support for YouTube videos . Already in May 2020, in fact, users of 8K TVs from Samsung and LG had received updates that enabled viewing in full format of 8K videos from YouTube, while viewing was forbidden to owners of televisions with the operating system of the Mountain View giant.
YouTube in 8K lands on Android TV
With the update of the YouTube app for Android TV to version 2. 12. 08, however, things change. However, there are some aspects to consider: the new version of the app requires Android 10 for which it is necessary that the manufacturer has released a version of the TV firmware based on it: 8K TVs with Android TV 9 are therefore excluded from viewing YouTube content in 8K. Another requirement is compatibility with the AV1 codec .
Update 2. 12. 08 brings other interesting features, such as support for Cast Connec t feature launched by Google in August, which improves the possibilities of controlling the contents shared with the TV, which are controllable and browsable not only from the smartphone app, but also directly with the remote control.
About a month after the Windows debut 10 October 2020 begins to be installed on a large number of systems in circulation. Here are the AdDuplex data
of Nino Grasso published 28 November 2020 , at 10: 01 in the Operating Systems channel Microsoft Windows
Windows 10 October 2020 Updat and it has been released for about a month, so it’s time to figure out how much traction it has had in users of the platform. Recall that the roll-out of Microsoft’s operating systems occurs gradually and this clearly affects the speed of distribution of the various versions. To make a picture of the situation is AdDuplex.
The company’s analyzes reveal that Windows 10 20 H2 is already approaching a double digit spread . Specifically, the latest operating system update is running on 8.8% of Windows PCs 10, up by 7.7% compared to the end of October. It is Windows 10 May 2020 Update to lead the platform adoption rankings, with the 37, 6% of the whole pie, closely followed by Windows 10 November 2019 Update.
The version “1909 “has the 36, 4% of the market shares, while the 10, 9% of systems with Windows 10 use the May version 2019 (1903). All older versions of the operating system have a single-digit adoption quota, a factor that indicates an extremely positive picture for Microsoft also thanks to the system of forced updates in the presence of obsolete versions.
The growth of Windows 10 October 2020 Update occurred mainly in the last few weeks, a period in which the use of the immediately preceding version was rapidly reduced. The version 20 H2 is certainly not an essential update, since introduces few improvements compared to its predecessor by sharing a large part of the code.
The AdDuplex data are obtained on a user base consisting of 100 thousand Windows PC 10 who had access to the ad network in November, so clearly we are not facing official numbers and the actual percentages may be slightly different.
